Do they come separately or in one box as they are gifts for two separate families

They come in the same box but both come in a protective sleeve if you were to wrap them separately you could gift them as individual gifts

Does it have magnets on the back?

No it doesn’t magnets on the back.

How does the stylus come out? I want to try it before i gift it.

It just slides out if you pull it from the top. It then just clips back in when you put the tip back in first. Make sure the loop is fat on and it will slide into position. I hope this helps. My grandchildren (6, 9 and 12) all enjoy using these.

Are the batteries easily removed? Are they childproof to get out?

Yes batteries are easily removable, their like clock batteries not your regular AA batteries. Their very childproof as my kids think it runs on magic coz they cant see the where the Batteries go haha its a circle which you turn so kids wont be able to do it.
