Thanks for charging us to get out of the hole you dug for the playerbase
Stands have always been flimsy and fall off for all my ships. Expensive, greedy company, thanks for ruining the game with 2.0!Don't like some of the unnecessary new rules in the updated version that I am sure they were pleased to see lots of people spend money on to update their cards... Don't like a lot of the stat changes too. I also don't like having to fork out hundreds to update my vast fleet of ships! They got into this because they kept adding new ships with poorly balanced rules to a game that would be better if it was done in GW warhammer format. Now every so often if they mess the balance up by adding more increasingly overpriced ships, they can just redo the rules and make you pay out potentially hundreds to update your rules!Oh yeah that is another thing. When I first got into this the ships were quite a bit cheaper, and that's not mentioning how they add i.e. a new tie fighter that is basically a slightly sturdier empire tie and they make about £5 more expensive! They also seem to be making a lot the newer ships cost more because why not?!Going to copy paste this for all xwing I have bought because the company deserves it for digging the players a hole to then charge people money to get out of it, of which they can do again for the next time the rules need revamping. Also, yeah the stands are flimsy and some of the fighters literally fall apart due to poor build quality.

Red Five (stars) standing by.
This set is a perfect starting point for anyone looking to get into the game. Included is everything you'll need to immediately start playing X-Wing as well as very well written and clear instruction manuals for beginners and of course three models that are expertly crafted and painted, and look great when flying next to each other in game. I've had hours of fun playing this and can not recommend it enough for any Star Wars fan and can advise getting two of these, especially if you grab the original variant which is based around the Original Trilogy films. Incredible value for money even when it comes to the models alone.

A great game, but beware..
£25 sounds like a great price for a new game, but you'll definitely end up spending a lot more after it arrives. The mechanics are good, the miniatures are great, the other components are well made too.. this is a really well designed game as you'd expect from Fantasy Flight. The rules are pretty simple (watch the FF youtube explanation) yet deep enough to allow lots of strategy with other ships. The gameplay is fast and fun and really captures the feeling of a dogfight in space.I do have some minor complaints though - and even though they won't damage the score of this review, they are worth taking into consideration. Firstly the price (and need) for expansions make this potentially very expensive. I bought the Millennium Falcon and Slave I too, but personally I don't enjoy using them as much because I prefer the small-ship battles - not everyone will agree with me here, but I'd just be careful of throwing cash at them. The game itself can also get a little bit fiddly as you have to use lots of range markers and accurately move your ships whilst filling the table with markers of all sorts. You'll need a big table to get the best out of the game (the recommended board is 3'x3'.. but that doesn't include space for all of your ship cards and extra bits). It also doesn't come with any kind of 'board' or mat, so beware that playing it on your brown table might detract from the theme somewhat - and extra space mats that work for the game are another £25ish.Finally the packaging is pretty annoying as there are no inserts for any of the multiple components in the box. It's a very small box, which is good, but it's not a very efficient way of storing all the different pieces (of which there are many) - and so it slows down my set-up/pack-up process considerably, often making me less inclined to play it. This means that once again you might want to spend more money on a custom carry case of some description, which for me doesn't look quite as good on the shelf. Those are minor gripes really because this is overall a great game that I enjoy very much. I'm not a huge Star Wars nerd, yet I still find a lot to like here - just don't be deceived by the low price point.

Great start to a great, potentially expensive hobby.
This is everything you need to get started. For a decent battle i would suggest two of these (the dice are 8 quid alone for another set, so with three fighters its a cost effective way to get going). The force awakens one is good as there's slight differences to the ties and x wing in that (ties have shields, none on this set). The game is simple to play, you can scale it back as much as you like to make it easier. The youtube fantasy flight guide is a great start but the boxed instructions are good too. This is played on an open table, not a board but you would need a decent size table to have a proper go, anything less than 3 ft square you'd need to limit your ships activity. The box comes with everything you need to get started, rulers, movement discs etc... If you're debating this I wouldn't think twice. The models are small, micro machine size, but are alot better - top class actually.Buy this, expect to be sucked into a £££ experience...
