My husband is a former Marine and he requested this book for his birthday. He liked it.

Instinctive combative basics

Common sense techniques that actually work. No nonsense, no mumbo jumbo, no spirituality garbage I have actually had the opportunity to use this method as a Correction Officer on the job.

I try not to write negative reviews on an individual's personal work, but this is not worth your money or time (although not much time because it only take about 30 minutes to read cover to cover (including the 30 page glossary). Sammy Franco is clearly passionate about what he does, but he should not be writing 'books.' Most of the pages are blank or have blurry black & white pictures that are not helpful or even correspond to the topic at hand OR the pictures are his only explanation on how to perform a certain technique. Im sorry, but you can not teach how to accurately and successfully execute a rear-naked choke (or most of these strikes) via pictures. Book includes several grammatical errors and duplicate pictures that make you feel like you're playing "what's different between these two photograps." Most importantly, he doesn't cover how to apply the skills he discusses or does so in as few words as possible. It should have been a blog post that lists out pressure points and then guides you to his website or class where he teaches the techniques (if he can teach).

I was expecting a detailed description of actual body pressure points that could be attacked in subtle ways. This book focuses on strike points (mostly facial) and explains that you will need to spend hundreds of hours practicing them. Just not what I expected.
