Is there a way to adjust the ease of opening and closing the door?

Yes just relocate the arm that connects to the door frame another inch or two away from the hinges . That gives more leverage and makes it easier to open the door.

It’s really hard to open. My wife and children are having a tough time pushing the door open after installation. How do I make it easier to open?

Thanks for getting in touch with us and sorry to hear that you're having issues with the unit. Depending on the weight and size of your door, there's a number of different things you can do. The first thing to do is move the arm shoe 1-2 inches away from the hinges to reduce the resistance. The second thing you can do is rotate the arm shoe 180 degrees so that the long end of the foot is facing towards the hinge in the EN2 position image if the hinges were to be on the left. Finally, if neither of these works, please adjust the speed regulation valve at the end of the closer. By rotating the valve anti-clockwise, the ease and speed of the door opening should increase. Do you have a door closer that keeps the door open completely without a stopper?

This closer will in fact work as a hold open in certain situations. I needed an auto close for a gate with a different mounting and hinge setup from most other doors and gates. I installed the arm foot to the post and the closer to the back of the gate. The auto close feature is still adjustable and closes the gate all the way, and if I open my gate just past the 90 degree mark it will hold open.
