I love Mackie's "Built like a tank" products
A good solid USB sound card for sound production. Includes MIDI in/out. Seems to be completely plug & play with Ubuntu Linux. I just plugged it in and started using it right away. It sounds great, and is absolutely completely quiet when nothing is playing, even with the knobs cranked up all the way. I didn't need any of the software that comes with this, but i'll probably play with it sometime. Added note 2/1/2026: I paid $105 for this. It's a great piece of gear and glad that I got it, but if I knew they were going to drop the price 30% I would have waited, or returned the one I have and bought it again. Anyway, NEW LOW PRICE, so definitely worth it if you need something like this.

Does what it says & works great, going on 2 years.
Purchased this unit in October 2018 (Producer 2-2) To replace my previous M-Audio interface that was some 16 years old, which I use for home recording (vocals/guitars/amps) I was interested in purchasing one sooner but frequently found I was having a hard time deciding which unit would be best, based on professional reviews as well as customer reviews (and weeding through those to make sure the lower-starred reviews are from people who know what they're talking about). I was drawn to this unit because at the time it was fairly new, and actually didn't have a lot of reviews, but one reviewer who was sent one to test out left a very favorable, comprehensive review. I was also drawn to the rugged aspect of it as sometimes I travel with it. Installation was straightforward, drivers were easy to get. I can't speak to the included software as I already have software I prefer to use (Reaper), but I had no issues getting the unit configured and working with my setup and getting right to work. I use Windows 10 64 bit and have never had issues with recognition or connection to either of my computers. Great low latency, and between the driver setttings and the DAW it's easy to tweak it if you feel the need to refine it. I have and would recommend this unit.

Does what I need!
From what I gather this model isn’t being made anymore (discontinued) so I’m hoping Mackie maintains driver support for the next few years. Right now it’s good and stable on Windows 11. I believe for Mac it is class compliant and doesn’t require drivers. So in theory it would work forever on a Mac. On windows, not so sure. Time will tell. But for now it’s great! Had to replace an old presonus one and my specific requirement was that it have midi input and output.

Mackie was great and?
It once connected to one of my computers. When it did, the volume was so low that I just ended up using my desktop. I have revisited the use of it, and there is no longer support for it. I was referred to use Sweetwater, but their link just sent me to Mackie. It’s really a shame that other companies can carry support for their products for decades and others fail to cherish the customer. No more Mackie for me.

Great!!
I will recommend this company to anyone who is buying an audio interface. It easily hooks up to computer and sound quality is amazing.

Beware: the Onyx Artist and the Onyx Producer are not the same thing
When I actually GOT the Onyx Producer, it's exactly what I was looking for (beware: the Onyx Artist 1-2 has the exact same footprint as the Onyx Producer 2-2, but the Artist does not have MIDI support; it is XLR and Line, only. Since the two items look so much alike, guess which one showed up on my doorstep? Customer Service was very helpful, though, and we got the issue straightened out fairly quickly.)

This over the Scarlett 2i2 any day of the week
I had ENDLESS problems with my Focusrite device. Their customer service is also ridiculously slow and wanted me to try to fix a laundry list of things to get it to work with windows 8.1 - it was overloading my OS's audio buffer and causing my audio to completely cut out, in some cases even FREEZING the entire program I was recording with. I record podcasts and that was unacceptable. Did half the list and decided the thing wasn't worth the money. The Mackie Producer was completely, beautifully, plug and play, and produces incredible sound quality. Seriously, it's also $50 cheaper and has not had an issue with my Windows OS at ALL. A superior product.

Buen producto, buen precio.

Get your analogue sounds into the computer.
2 microphone inputs which sound pretty good but with only gain and a LED to show the signal level. LED off no signal or small signal , green led signal is within the limits and apparently there is a red LED but I have never seen it as there was enough gain. Monitor output has a mixer for the sound coming into the ONYX or the sound coming from the PC which is very useful for checking a sound is good through the monitors before it even gets recorded and then recordings can take place only listening to the whole mix. If you need a little more or less performance you can quickly adjust the balance but you get a weird echo as the mixes are just happening at different times. This function may have been better as just a switch but I do use it. The headphone out has a volume control. I have not used the MIDI but there is in and out. Connects to a USB port and gets its power from the USB which is nice. All in all a reasonable quality product which sounds good using a stereo guitar/microphone into some software on the computer.

Plug and play with Logic Pro X
Excellent quality, literally just plugged it in and immediately Logic recognized it.... didn't need to adjust bit rates or anything. Have been using this for a few months now and I'm really enjoying it. Have it paired with a set of Mackie MR624 's and it sounds great!
