I love the difference
Fans of all farming games will love this! After reading reviews I had to give it a go. I was a little concerned about the graphics of this game as I'm not a fan of the whole 3D thing and prefer the old style HM games, but I soon got over that. The farming can get a little tedious as it's missing the original Harvest Moon features where you can upgrade tools to gather more crops at once or water more at once. But there's more new aspects of the game like terraforming and crop mutations. If you like to run around a town and woo the girl/boy of your dreams this game is probably not something you'll enjoy as you're limited to your farm and your cabin where townsfolk gather on certain days.It still has a great story and is a good game.

hardcore fans might be dissapointed?
Truthfully I'm a little disappointed in this latest version of the series. I've been a big fan for years now, and I have copies of all of them which I still work through now and again. But somehow with these newer graphics I just can't get as excited as I would normally?I honestly am not a fan of mine craft, but this feels like they've tried to grasp the games coat tails for some extra notice or something?I guess the real fans are going to have to wait another how many months/year for 'story of seasons'

If you are a fan of the Harvest Moon series DON'T play this game!
I have bought and played every harvest moon game since the GBA version of mineral town and I have never been so disappointed by a game. This is Natsumes first attempt at creating a harvest moon on their own after Marvelous has chosen to use a different developer to translate their games for them, but since Natsume owns the right to the name "harvest moon" they have decided to carry on making games under the already successful name. and boy did they screw up!The game really only has two main areas within the game, your farm land and your house. no village, so all the people just walk around your house or land, which takes away the traditional village setting that harvest moon as had. The characters have poor dialogue and cannot be given gifts to improve friendship, a mechanic sorely missed from previous games. Farming consists of moving and pressing A over and over, you don't change tools, you just push A. overly simplistic. The plot was a good one, but it is frustrating at it takes the best part of a season to unlock spring, summer and fall so you only get to play a few days of each season for the first year of game play. The most pointless feature is the ability to terraform your entire world by digging up and piling up dirt so your world can look however you want it. It is like a terrible version of minecraft but at least it is something to do to occupy yourself as you can't visit any interesting places, fishing is a bore, all the villagers just wander around saying the same thing over and over! I am really sad about this game and have nothing positive to say about the game, except that crops can mutate and change depending on how well you look after them. Sorry it was a long review, but it really annoyed me to see this franchise go down in flames, for true fans of the series, keep an eye out for Story of Seasons!

old and quite boring. I love Harvest Moon
It's aged quickly as a game and feels clunky, old and quite boring. I love Harvest Moon, but it was bad, sorry.

Love it. Quite short to achieve the game but it continues (it would appear) forever. Sweet little game that you can play and watch tv at the same time. No major achievements to earn and days pass quickly but it makes a change from aggressive games. If you like growing vegetables it is the game for you. Probably suits youngsters and old gamers like me.

Wife is Happy
Bought as a Christmas gift for my wife who asked for it as she plays Animal Crossing and loves that as well. Seems to be good, as she is always playing this one now. She said it was a bit of a slow burner and as you progress things pick up. Hey...it keeps her quiet :)
