One of the best bathroom extractors out there
This extractor is brilliant. Yes it is a bit louder than most, but that is because it actually extracts - and loads! This is my second one, the first lasted 9 years (warranty is for 3 so they are very good).

Lovely and powerful
This fan is quite, quite excellent: When taking a shower, the humidity module (I installed this fan with the humidy-and-timer module, purchased separately but also from Amazon) automatically turns on the fan and by the time I step out of the shower the fan has extracted enough humidity from the bathroom that the mirror isn't even steamed up. This is in a 4m x 4m bathroom. Also, the slowly opening and closing iris mechanism has a delightful look to it. One word of caution: while the fan can be fitted surface-mounted using the "contoured skirt" provided, it looks rather ugly, protruding from the wall by about 9cm or so. To look good, it really needs to be fitted flush to the wall. In my case, that involved removing a chunk of wall around the existing vent hole to provide enough space for the fan's motor housing to be seated inside (15cm across by 8cm deep). Since every local builder I approached had core drills which could only cut a NEW vent hole, rather than widening an existing one, that meant a few hours work myself with cold chisels, brick bolsters, masonry drills and a masonry hammer. Definitely worth doing, however, as the fan now looks good and works extremely well.

Good for windy areas
We originally had a more conventional one but it couldn't cope with the incoming winds we have here and kept spontaneously and noisily opening so we changed to this which works a treat!

Great extractor fan, but makes sure you have enough wire to reach the connectors
I bought this as a replacement for an iCON 15, which failed. I didn't bother trying to fix it as I'd been looking to upgrade it anyway due to condensation issues in the shower room. This is almost twice as powerful and isn't noticeably louder than it's smaller cousin. In operation, it works really well at removing the steam from our shower room. Definitely an improvement on the smaller model and well worth the extra money. I bought this model as I wanted something that would fit the existing 100mm duct. Just be aware that if you want this to be flush mounted then the first part of the duct needs to be bored out to a larger diameter to accommodate the rear element of the fan. As a result, I mounted it with the skirting supplied, which then pushes the fan about 5cm further out of the wall. Not an issue, but it does mean that the power cable will also need to be that much longer when connecting it. Therefore if you have a short cable coming out of a tiled wall, you'll need to be able to extend it. Last thing, if you want this fan to run on (as per building regs) then you'll need a control module to fit as well.

Noisy!
We've fitted the smaller version (icon 15) to two new builds without issue however, as with many other reviews, the larger icon 30 appears to have quality control issues in respect of unacceptably high noise levels emanating from its fan and/or motor which can be intermittent or continuous. We've had three of these units and found only one without noise issues. We therefore urge anyone who finds their unit noisy to return it for an exchange as when operating correctly noise levels aren't an issue. A couple of other points common to all icon fans .... annoyingly the units do not fit flush against the wall/ceiling, something which could easily be resolved with a minor revision to the design. The small plastic arm that is involved in the operation of the iris shutter is extremely delicate/flimsy and appears to be manufactured from the type of plastic that becomes brittle with age. I've not been able to source parts for these fans anywhere which leads me to believe that faults outside of the warranty period can only be resolved by a new motor unit or iris assembly at significant cost and environmental impact.

Looks good and excellent extraction rate
There were no problems with delivery and the unit arrived within expected dates. I replaced like for like. So the installation was fairly straightforward. The original Airflow 30 lasted for 7 years. I think it would have lasted longer if I had carried out more regular maintenance by carefully cleaning the rotary blades every 3 months or so. The use of baby powder after a shower is the main problem. The fan is more expensive than other fans, but it has neat styling, no back draught when closed, and very good extraction power. On the down side you have to purchase a separate timer unit if you want the fan to continue operating after it is switched off. The timer from my original fan worked without any problems. If you are thinking of replacing an existing 100mm fan, just be aware that the hole diameter in the ceiling will need to be increased, although the fan still connects to a 100mm flexible extraction hose. Once bitten………
I have purchased two of these. The first lasted about six years before it became unacceptably noisy. Discovered the impeller had come loose on the shaft. Contacted Icon who said they do not supply spares and the fan cannot be repaired. Ordered a replacement which has lasted 18 months before it also became noisy and vibrational. Will not be purchasing a replacement and have opted for an alternative premium make which is significantly cheaper. I have the smaller model fitted in a toilet about 15 years ago which is quiet, but not particularly effective.

I installed it in a bathroom wall to ventilate a shower. It looks good and is very quiet. I expected it to be much louder It has a low profile. i would recommend it
