A very poor product
Installing the receiver was not to difficult getting the transmitter to connect to the receiver was a bit tricky but all went well and at first very pleased, then on a cold day the communication between the Tx and Rx stopped tride connecting no joy changed the battery after trying several attemps finaly connection.I could set the day time temperture to 20.5 degs and be sitting there and think its a bit hot and find the temperature at 22 degs and the boiler still operating, adjust the temp lower and you would feel cold and the room temp 19 deg. the best thing uninstalled it hard wired a Honeywell T4 and keeps the temperature within 0.5 deg.

RUBBISH
I wanted just a thermastat without timer and it is that. Fitted to a house I have just moved into which didn't have a thermastat. It only pairs when it feels like it so I gave up

Simple and effective
Bought one to replace a Sunvic Wireless Remote Thermostat (earlier version of the Horstmann currently available) which would randomly switch between its 9 programmes. This is much simpler but covers everything I need with one program that switches between high and low temperatures for day and night (I use 20.5C/16C) or can be set permanently high if an elderly parent is staying or one of the family is unwell, or permanently low if we are away in winter. The original, hard-wired thermostat was in the hall which is ridiculous location as who really cares what temperature that is. I switched to wireless so that we could control the temperature in the living room which is where we spend most time.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
I had one of these installed with a new boiler 5 years ago. After about three years the receiver stopped switching the boiler on. This was because the electrical relay in the receiver was not switching the boiler on, although the signal from the control unit was being received (the orange light on the front of the receiver came on). Indeed if I tapped the bottom of the receiver box front I could hear the relay click and then the boiler switch on!! I put up with this for a while but eventually replaced it with a replacement RDJ10RF and it cured the problem. The connecting block in the receiver unit is quite unnecessarily fiddly and poorly designed, but managed after some patience. However after six months with the new set the same problem has occurred again , except this time the boiler does not get switched on OR OFF due to the sticky relay. (Tapping the bottom of the receiver unit still coaxes it into action, usually.) I have bought a replacement Horstmann HRFS1 which is a similar price. (other manufacturers asking £150 to £200 is simply a disgraceful rip off!)

Expected better from Siemens
Agree with previous review, this unit seems to have a mind of its own and yes it does go backwards when trying to set it!not very accurate. It has now decided to pack up completely, only works when using the override button, very poor only had for less than two years but am now looking for something that works properly, anyone got any suggestions?

This thermostat is a nightmare to have in your house
The Corgi Heating plan which I joined 12 month's ago has fitted Siemens Digital Thermostat and it is so inferior to the Honeywell Thermostat which I had for 7 years until a fault occurred recently. A previous review said the Siemens had a mind of it's own and I agree with that. My comfort temp. has been set at 21 but the house temp has to be at 20 before boiler starts again and then temp can go to 22 even 22.5. Even though this is a new installation I am considering making a change.
