It's a good knife
It's a good quality knife that Buck has been known for.Comes very sharp but gets super sharp with little work, and holds an edge. It's my favorite pocket knife, and I lost or broke a bunch over the years. Has the weight of an expensive knife with good stiff blades. Feels right in my pocket. I'm lost without it.If you're looking for the perfect pocket knife, this is the one.

Excellent first knife, made an 8-year-old girl very happy!
My daughter (8) wanted a pocketknife for Christmas. I wanted to get her a Buck because of their legendary quality and sharpness, but was really torn because I knew this particular Buck is made in China and I wanted her first knife to be made in the good old U.S.A.But the canoe model seemed like the perfect size and fit for her hand, and, well, I figured the memories we'd make with her first knife would mean more to her growing up than the country of origin stamped on the blade. So I went with this one after all, and I'm so glad I did.First of all, she absolutely loves it. So there's a win right off the bat. :)But objectively speaking, this thing is a Buck knife, plain and simple. The design, the finish, and the quality are impeccable. The blades open easily, close positively, and are just as scary-sharp as my higher-priced, American-made Bucks. The handle is larger than most of Buck's wooden folders. It gives a nice chunky grip, and the blades are broader as well, which I really like. The shapes of the blades are also more suited to the sorts of things kids do with a knife, as well as the entry-level bushcraft kinds of things we do together. My daughter was thrilled with the real wooden handles with the brass bolsters. It's got a very classic look to it and just plain works. All in all, this is a beautiful knife, perfect for a child's first knife or even an adult who just wants something a bit beefier than the more slender pocket knives that tend to dominate this space (namely, non-locking folders with wooden handles). I'm really glad we got it for her.

Heirloom Quality Pocket Knife - Wood, Brass, Steel - No Plastic
If you are looking for a beautiful heirloom quality knife as a gift or to pass on to children or grandchildren, this is a great choice. Beautiful quality wood handle with brass hilts and steel blades. While it is a simple design with only a large blade and a small blade, it is gift that will stand the test of time. I have had many pocket knives over the years, including premium Swiss Army (Victorinox) models. This "Buck Canoe" is by far my favorite. I gave engraved versions to my father, brothers, and sons.

A good knife for not a lot of money
I bought a Chinese made Buck 389 several years ago and within a short period of time the spear blade became somewhat loose with no snap. I decided to buy this particular one because of the burl wood and have found it to be better made. After 6 months of daily use the blades still snap back in place as well as when I received it. The steel used is easy to sharpen and while it doesn't have the edge retention of say D2 it holds up fairly well. A few passes on a leather strap and it's back to shaving sharp. It fits in the watch pocket of my jeans has become my daily carry knife.

Great Everyday Knife for Awesome Price
I got a bunch of these knives as presents for my groomsmen. Within minutes of receiving them, I was so impressed with the quality, sharpness, durability and design of the knife that I quickly placed another order for three more of these knives.(one for my fiance's father, my father, and one for myself) I've always been told by my grandfather that Buck knives are the only knives he carries, and I can understand why. This knife is backed by the Buck name and therefore backed with a Lifetime Warranty. Pay no attention to other reviewers low star rating for no other reason than that the product was made in China. Not sure if these reviewers felt that this is a knock off knife or what, but if they were to view the details on Buck's official website for this knife, along with many other knives Buck owns, they would see that Buck as outsourced the production of some of their knives to China. However, Buck would not just slap their name on a poorly crafted knife, and I can confirm that the quality of this knife matches the quality of any knife made coming out of the US Buck factory.

Good little knife.
Carry daily. Never without a pocket knife. Not made for cutting tree limbs, but great to open boxes.

Good knife
It's a good knife. The quality seems pretty decent. Look at the dimensions carefully as it is a little big for a compact "Pocket Knife"... but that is not a down mark. I guess I am giving it a 3 instead of a 4 because it is made in China. Back in the day, it was American made... I was hoping for an American made knife. You can still get an American made Buck (#309). My Dad carried the 309 for 30 years, and now I have it. Gotta love Buck
