UPDATE: When I first purchased these bulbs in the Fall of 2028, the installation and set up was a pain, but since LIFX has continued to update and improve the process, I feel comfortable up-ing my review from 4 stars to 5. All-in-all, I would definitely purchase these bulbs again based on the research I’ve done on comparing them to Philip’s Hue and similar bulbs. These smart bulbs are great! They are BRIGHT and have s slew of features that make them fun to use and versatile (color cycle, music visualizer, “spooky,” etc...). And they work with Apple’s HomeKit (at least mine do… you may have to have newish ones). BUT they were difficult and frustrating to set up. I had to contact LIFX support to get help several times. (BTW, LIFX support was absolutely fantastic to deal with: prompt, generous, easy to work with and understand. They even sent me 2 bulbs to replace ones that I couldn’t get to work at all. Everyone I corresponded with was great, however Taber Dullea went above and beyond the expected. Kudos to you!) The bulbs will work fine for a while, then inexplicably loose their connectivity to the LIFX cloud and HomeKit. One piece of advice that I found helped a lot: set up the lights one at a time and when you’re located near your router. I happened to have a light bulb tester (basically a socket and a plug) and an on/off switch already, so I used those to set up each bulb one at s time. That helped a LOT! Putting the bulbs up in ceiling fixtures and then trying to set them up was a challenge.! You also CAN NOT use them with a dimmer! I had to take out the Lutron Caseta switches I had put in, which now i have no use for… so my LIFX installation was doubly expensive: new bulbs and switches AND my investment in the Caseta equipment is now sitting unused in the closet. Another disappointing revelation that didn’t dawn in me until I had them installed was you basically loose the convenience of walking into a room and flicking s switch to turn on your lights. The switch has to be left ON for the LIFX bulb to remain connected to the LIFX Cloud; if the switch is OFF there’s no way for the app to talk to the bulb. There are many workarounds to this (check out flic) and there's always the “Hey, Siri” voice control, but it’s just a little annoyance that I hadn’t included in my decision to buy these bulbs. LIFX releases updates to their iOS app as well as firmware upgrades regularly, and with each new firmware update, the lights work better.

I have 3 LIFX mini and 3 LIFX A19, I’ve been very happy with them for the past year. I’ve been pleased to see the many updates and improvements that have continued over this time. The stability has greatly improved, its extremely rare now to have any sort of connectivity problems, they are very reliable. I love that they work with all the major voice assistants and most everything else out there. I use mine with Siri on the HomePod, my sister uses hers with Alexa, and my dad will be using the ones I’m buying him with google home. In my experience so far with smart lighting, LIFX wins on brightness and intensity of colors. I have 3 (3rd generation) Philips Hue A19 bulbs that don’t get as bright as the LIFX minis let alone the regular A19 LIFX bulbs. The blue on the LIFX bulbs are much more intense and saturated than the Philips Hue (it’s hard to tell from the picture, but in person it’s a very big difference). The deep blues and purples have almost a black light effect on whites (the silver lighting on a Thor poster looks really neat). The app is very easy to use and set up the bulbs, and it connects directly to your WiFi so you won’t need a hub. There’s some fun effects, scenes and a music visualizer. Setting schedules is simple and reliable. There’s also other third party apps you can use with these bulbs as well. I bought my sister one of these bulbs for her birthday, she’s already talking about getting a couple more. My dad kept asking me questions about my lights and how to set them up last time he was over, next month is his birthday and I already got him a google home mini and plan on getting him a couple of these bulbs to set up when he’s at work. Side note, you can use the lighting to get creative with photography.

purchased two of these last night to fit them into sconces for my front door, and side door lights. this makes my 40th lifx bulb purchased. yep, 40. i did have a tiny bit of trouble setting these up as opposed to the BR30 and A19 variants, but i love these bulbs too much to dock a star. i was an early adopter and tried out the hue bulbs when they first came out, and though i read that the issue has now been resolved for the most part, the early generation philips hue bulbs were ATROCIOUS at color reproduction. because of their choice of going with unconventional color combinations to achieve a brighter white light, they abandoned the traditional RGB (red/green/blue) and went with a more CMY approach, (actually magenta/violet/lime in hue's case), they could not reproduce any sort of true green, blue or any of the spectrum in between (cyan/aqua/teal etc were all out of the question). so i remembered that i backed LIFX bulbs on kickstarter before, and they seemed really promising. full disclosure: i pulled out of my backing for that project because near the end the project creator started answering questions less and less, used computer renderings of bulbs as "prototypes" etc and basically to me, seemed to be kinda shady so i lost faith in it. thought LIFX was another overblown kickstarter vaporware. SO WRONG. i bought 4 LIFX bulbs as a test a few years ago and immediately fell in love, and having purchased my own home more than a year ago i instantly replaced all of my living room, kitchen and sitting room (common areas) lights with LIFX BR30 bulbs (replacing the dull recess cans, it's pretty easy to find trims here on amazon that fit them perfectly). i loved it so much i also ended up buying more of their A19 bulbs to outfit my bedroom light, and random floating/floor fixtures. the two minis that i bought last night were the last LIFX purchases i made but definitely not the final ones. they've worked consistently, respond to google assistant and android app control flawlessly. i see people reviewing that the bulbs aren't operating consistently, or syncing correctly etc. might want to check out your network. i had spotty performance too before i swapped my router out for google wifi. with 180mbps+ speed throughout my entire house, lifx has been smooth as silk. some samples of how i use them: - with IFTTT, i set my outdoor lights to automatically fade on at 6PM and off at 8AM to keep my exterior lit. - with IFTTT i fade my decor fixtures on as i get within 100yd of my home and off once i'm 100yd away. - with google home i just say "hey google, set living room lights to 80% brightness (or desired %) and i instantly create the right atmosphere. - with google home i just say "hey google, set bedroom lights to warm/incandescent/cool white or sky blue depending on my mood. - with abode (home security) i set the bulb directly over my bed to blink at max brightness if someone opens my front door when i'm sleeping. - there are a lot more things that i really don't have the time to list. but LIFX bulbs are now an integral part of my life. my boyfriend was at first hesitant and found smart devices annoying and complicated to learn. now neither of us ever touch a light switch, or even really use the app...voice control is that much better (and easier)

My wife and I got a couple of these bulbs as a gift for Christmas along with an Amazon Dot from the children who are trying to drag us into the technology age. They set up the first two bulbs do work with the Amazon Dot, and my Samsung phone, and a Harmony remote. It took almost two hours for them to set it all up to communicate and work together. The bulbs are just a bit smaller than an old style light bulb. I liked the bulbs, particularly the ability to change the color of the white light and to dim the lights either together or independently. The ability to choose any color is kinda cool as well. However we were running two torch style floor lamps with 100W equivalent single color LED white bulbs and as these were only 60W equivalent they did not give us the same brightness in our living room when both on full power. Apparently 60W is the highest these type of bulbs go at this time. Since I liked the concept and wanted to use the gift I purchased a triple lamp to replace on of our old ones and purchased more bulbs so I could get more light using more bulbs. I had a basic understanding of how the original bulbs were set up for me so when the new ones arrived I was ready to try to set them up using my Samsung Galaxy phone. Initially it went well with the LIFX software seeing the new lights and updating the firmware. I did run into a problem after that with both bulbs after that. The software would just go into a search loop when trying to locate the new bulbs on the network. It took some time but I found a solution on the LIFX forums. Apparently the software has a few kinks and one of them has to do with Android based devices. I found users with the same problem and eventually found a post I could understand about a possible fix. The fix was to go the the phone settings and turn off the mobile data function. Apparently this interferes with the device discovery of the bulbs. I can't explain it much better than that, but it worked like a charm. I clicked the mobile data off on my phone, reset the new bulbs by cycling them on and off 5 times. You then have to set them up again by finding them on the LIFX software. This time it found them on the network right away and they were added to my software control. Once you have setup all your lights go back in your phone settings and turn the mobile data back on. It does not affect your ability to operate the light once it is setup and other functions on your phone need this on to work I believe. I ended up liking these a lot more on the triple lamp as setting the bulbs to 3 different colors really creates a cool looking effect. I have included a few pics with the bulbs set on different colors. Overall this is a cool, although expensive light bulb, The price is largely due to the fact that they direct transmit to your wireless network without additional adapters or routers. I took one star away due to the networking issues with my Android phone as that added about 2 hours to my setup trying to figure it out. I'm lucky I found the post and answer that I did and hopefully this review helps someone else who runs into the same issue.

After purchasing the Lifx lights i have to say I am a huge fan. These lights are very cool! Love the million color options, dimming capabilities and scene selections that are built in. Just a heads up that it’s a little tricky to get the lights synced up but once you get them there it is seamless. Just follow the included instruction. One big thing to note, you need to switch your WiFi Network OFF of the 5g for these to sync properly to your phone! briefly switch to your non 5g network and they connect. Then you can connect back to the 5g. I like that you do not need a hub for these lights to function as you do for the Phillips hue. Also helps to keep costs lower than the hue. Another very cool thing is that you can link up multiple lights in different rooms to all be the same or have each individual light operate independently. It’s all up to you. Lastly, I found that the LIFX app was simple to use.

Among many of our favorite amazon purchases!!! We originally purchased one from Best Buy for my daughters room which they got for the “coolness” of Its effects and being able to change a variety of colors but also that it could be integrated with Alexa which I use very often when I walk by their room and see they left their light on I simply ask Alexa to turn it off and it’s off! I loved that feature alone so much so that I bought 1 for my room & because I love the integration with Alexa and this lightbulb so much I then bought it for my Godson who has told me that everyone in his home also now wants one! And the more recent one I purchased was for my oldest daughter rooms! I think the lightbulb on its own with the phone controlled app would probably be ok but the thing that seals the deal for me and makes the price worth it is this smart bulb paired with Alexa! It’s the modern day clap on clap off light! This light bulb is a little more than a multicolored bulb but it offers different modes you can set the light to come different colors different times of the day, you can set it to be sound responsive and it also has several pre-set modes! A good buy we use in our home daily!

Having used Lifx products, among others, for a few years now, I'm satisfied that they make the best smart-bulbs on the market. Installation is quick, easy and no fuss, and I love that there is no need for an external hub (yes I'm looking at you, hue!). From plugging the bulbs in, to having them connected and good to go takes under three minutes, and all via the wifi that is already set up in our house... no extra hardware to plug in or purchase (that's you again hue!), just the bulbs. The colours are crisp and true, and blend seamlessly, letting you tailor the look and feel to how you like it. I've tested my Lifx along-side the Phillips Hue, and for both brightness and colour clarity, the former wins hands down. Grouping the bulbs is also straight forward, and even doesn't require that they be on the same network. If you're familiar with smart-bulbs, but have never tried these, or if you are just looking for a place to start, give them a go... you'll never look back (the sale prices at the moment are pretty nice too!).

If you're seeking a scalable whole-home smart lighting construct, look elsewhere - this is NOT it! If you have 50 bucks and hours to burn, and want to tinker with one or two side table lamps, then maybe this... Umm, wait, no - this still won't bring you joy either. This entire ecosystem is crapware. Why? The App sucks lemons. Whether you're running Apple, Android, or Windows - the software is simply atrocious. Slow, unreliable, inconsistent across platforms - you'll be wishing you never unboxed a single Lifx bulb. Let me share some examples... Do you have dual-band WiFi? How about multi-zone access-points? You're in for treat - Ha! My home is covered by four hard-wired UniFi dual-band APs. In order for me to add a new bulb, I have to turn off the 5GHz band (and band-steering) completely. Then disable all but one AP. Then I can run the app and add a bulb. If I don't shut down all but the one AP and band, I'll get 10min of swirling progress indicator followed by a failure message. Nice work Lifx! Given the headaches adding bulbs, you might try to add/program a bulb at a convenient indoor location, and then swap/install it to its final location, such as an outdoor or porch lamp. Ha! I tried to take a living room bulb and move it to the front Porch. But even though I added the bulb to the "Porch Group", the former living room bulb would never adopt the previously configured Porch Group *schedule*. And the bulb that I'd moved from the Porch to the Living Room group? You guessed it! I would continue to turn on/off with the Porch Group schedule. You must think me stupid for investing in so many Lifx bulbs without first testing them. Well, the fact is, the software actually DID WORK back in App version 3 and prior. Trouble began with cloud-based App version 4, and it's remained "mostly cloudy" ever since. Look at the declining App reviews on App Store/Play Store. Look on Craigslist and eBay for people dumping Lifx bulbs, scrambling to get even half their money back on this soured system. What a shame! The hardware seems well built and actually worked well prior to App version 4. But after months of waiting, I'm out. My Lifx bulbs are on Craigslist in Jan 2021. I'd feel guilty without citing the caveats in CL posting, but you've been warned!

Cuando las compre no decía que tanta luz dan. Son 800 lumenes consume 9w e ilumina como uno de 60w. En mi caso suficiente para donde los coloque. Al inicio cuestan configurarlo con la aplicación LIFX tiene un buen de opciones. Parpadean al ritmo de la música. Al instalar IFTTT las puedes configurar para que al llegar a la casa se enciendan todas o alguna y al salir se apaguen todas. La integración con Alexa excelente. Con Google no la probé. Y con HomeKit como que se desconecta y aun no doy con el por qué lo hace. Aunque tienes mucho menos opciones HomeKit que la app de LIFX

Compre este foco y otros dos de otras marcas. Y realmente es un foco excelente de muy buena calidad de brillos y colores increíbles. Supera pero por mucho a focos de marcas reconocidas. Es un poco caro lo sé pero vale lo que cuesta. Lo recomiendo

Los mejores focos que puedes comprar , sus funciones son eficientes , no tuve ningún problema de conectividad ni de funcionamiento , tienen controlador de brillo y además una variedad muy extensa de colores , 100% recomendables .

Es un foco super excelente, con diversos colores. Quizás la luz blanca un poco por debajo de los focos convencionales pero sin ningún problema alumbra una recamara. Recomendado 😀

Es muy fácil de usar y de instalar, es totalmente compatible con HomeKit y la intensidad de luz es muy buena, lo recomiendo totalmente y es uno de los mejores en el mercado.
