Pentair heater switch membrane (42002-0029Z)
-a few things... first, this item WILL replace the keypad that has more buttons (filter pump, aux1 & aux2 buttons are missing on this unit), so, as long as you don't use those items, this unit will work. -just plug the 6 pin connector in leaving the TOP three pins unused on the main heat control board. -second, this unit will fix the up/dn heat control buttons not working properly, this unit will NOT fix the display leds that are not functioning,... those are on the main board that this board plugs into. -last, I ran a bead of silicon around this board to ensure that water does not seep around this board and ruin the board underneath. -oh, I also put spiral wrap around all wires in heater to stop mice from chomping them, and put moth balls in the heater control box to discourage the mice, and blocked the wiring holes leading to the control box with foam. -hope this helps someone.-instructions are NOT included: -unscrew four M8 screws, pull covers off heater unit, remove two pins holding top on, remove top, flip over, remove four small phillips screws holding heat control board, unplug display board from heat control board, peel off old display board, clean mating surface with alcohol, remove backing from new board & install. -can be done in 15 minutes, but plan on a couple hours to clean the unit and rodent-proof it.

Great replacement membrane control pad.
My Sta rite heater is still in good shape but the buttons on the membrane keypad stopped responding. I found this replacement on Amazon at a much lower price compared to pool supply shops. The new one has 6 pins whereas my old one had 9. It is still compatible. You leave the last 3 pins unused. Make sure you clean the surface well before applying the adhesive. Took me under 30 minutes from start to finish. While the heater is opened it’s a good time to take a blower and blow out all the debris and replace the protective display cover. For safety make sure the gas supply is turned off when servicing.

Good replacement
Good replacement and easy to install, no instructions, but hopefully 1) you are mechanically skilled or 2) hire someone with experience 3) watch YouTube video since there’s probably one showing how to do it.

Works Great
My heater is 12 years old and the temp adjusting button stopped working. In doing my research about aftermarket vs OEM replacement parts and the fact I got 12 years out of the original OEM part, I decided to go with this part. It is much less than from Pentair direct or their distributors. Time will tell how long this part will last. I’ll be extremely happy if I get at least 10 years out of this part.Installation was very easy. I did take my time to remove the old glue left behind by the old panel. Took about 10 mins from start to finish.

Easy spa fix.
The membrane switch is as advertised. After 10 years the switch panel had started to fall apart in the hot California sun and no longer functioned properly. In total it took about 20 minutes to install. 4 screws and 2 since pins. Unplug and remove old membrane panel, clean up with some wipes and a rag with just a small amount of acetone to remove any adhesive residue then the hardest part, peel a stick on so its straight. Worked perfectly. The heater in my opinion is a poor design in terms of the lack of good protection for the switch panel, but this replacement looks to be of at least the quality as the original part. Four stars because it is somewhat overpriced for what it is.

This 6-pin replaces the old 9-pin
This 6-pin membrane is a perfect replacement for the old 9-pin model. All you have to do is skip pins 1 to 3. Use only pins 4 to 9. No need to spend $30 extra on a 9-pin non Sta-Rite/Pentair model or waste time looking for one. On the main board you will see a number 1 and 9 on both ends. That's how you can tell where pin 4 starts. I attached a picture for clarity. I'm only taking off 1 star for the price.
