Where have you been all my life
What a absolute life saver. I've thought many times about buying one one these but always found reasons not to splash the cash. Every time I'm in that position where I've need one and didn't have one I've kicked myself & asked myself why I didn't have one, well now I do and all I can say is where have you been all my life - it's faultless and rapid at removing 15mm olives cleanly from pipe - quality.

A tool that simply works. I am I DIYist for the things I'm happy doing and having sorted a downstairs toilet SWMBO desired a heated towel rail. So, out with the old rad and I paid for this tool to do the olive chopping. I'm sure many would laugh, but the last time I changed two radiators upstairs, I used a Dremel to off the old olives and whilst it worked out for me, there was a constant, nervous background chant of "Oh sh*t, Oh sh*t, Oh sh*t..." till the cutting was done and I had managed NOT to eat a lump out of the copper pipe and have to up the floorboards to extend the tails. At that point, I promised myself I'd get a right tool for the job next time, even if did cost a few quid.To use this is easy, but as a suggestion, take a little time. The tool slips over the copper pipe and the olive to be removed. Pressing the handles together pushes the two blades (you can see in the photo) forward and the olive become compressed against the front ring of the tool, allowing the blades to continue forward and gently shear through the olive and... click! One side of the olive fails and can simply be popped of the pipe by hand. The clever bit is that the blades are set so that they never come into contact with the (15mm in my case) pipe, but just nicely grab each side of the olive on the way forward and the olive fails on one side or t'other before the blade even touches the pipe at all. My only advice would be to make sure the collar and cutting edges are properly set up opposite each other before starting the cut (not pitched at an angle) and, when squeezing the handles together... nice and steady. Rushing it MAY distort the pipe end and for the sake of (literally) 10 seconds, why even risk it?And that's it. A meandering description of a simple tool, but some things are worth a few words when they're well designed, efficient and do what they promise to do. Oh... and no, I didn't get a freebie from the seller or get paid to write this drivel of mine. It was paid for by me and I haven't even spoken to the manufacturer/seller.

A worthy addition to your toolbox
I am no plumber and know very little about the trade but needed to replace an isolation valve on a 15mm copper pipe. After reviewing several videos on Youtube on how to do this, I figured there was a pretty good chance I could run into trouble with the olive.I therefore made a preemptive purchase of this Olive Removing Tool on the strength of the reviews on Amazon albeit they (reviews) ranged from 3 to 5 stars. I guess it was enough for me that there were no reviews less than 3 stars and the weight was certainly towards the 5 and 4 stars.Come the day of reckoning, and I ran into trouble with the olive, prompting me to reach for this tool and set about removing the olive. Dead easy! Simple and effective! Now, I would have gone ahead and awarded 5 stars and that was my intention when I logged into Amazon today, but a post purchase scan through the reviews - especially the 3 star ones - revealed you could nick the pipe if you were anything less than "extremely careful" or perhaps a bit heavy handed. This prompted a change of mind from 5 stars to 4, because as it so happens, I did end up with a small nick in the pipe but did not think it could be related to the tool. Luckily, my lack of confidence in my plumbing skills meant I had anticipated all manner of issues and had therefore preemptively purchased all the tools and materials I needed to carefully file down the nick in the pipe and make it right. Just to bring this anecdote to a close, my isolation valve replacement was a successful operation.I was quite torn between awarding 5 stars and 4. I settled on 4 in the end because of the cost of the tool and the risk of nicking the pipe is very real. However, I would not dispute the 5 stars other reviewers have awarded, because at the end of the day, this is a very good tool and I imagine a steadier hand would probably boast trouble free olive removal!

Powerful snapper
Excellent sharpe edge easily snaps most 15mm olives. Takes a little extra effort if you come across an old good quality brass olive, so a little extra squeeze is required. This is the second one I’ve purchased having worn the old one out from years of use.

It works
I'm glad I read the reviews and bought the recommended one. I saw the cheapo ones and the odd screw ones and thought I'd get the named one.It just works, no fiddling, no faffing. Just grip the olive and it's cut. Nice to have a tool that just does what it says

Time saving
Wasn’t going to buy as thought they were overpriced but now I have them I realise I should’ve bought them ages ago!Been cutting olives with a hacksaw for years but having these saves so much time. Recommend.
