Silverline Hose Reel 45m Capacity (547900), Green

Seen some reviews which suggested this wasn't all that great. I wanted a reel to tidy up the garden hose, and didn't want to spend a fortune on a fancy one, so opted for this. Whilst the plastic doesn't feel the most sturdy, it's well above what I expected from it.I originally wasn't planning on hooking it up to the hose directly, and just wanted it as a hose storage holder, but had a spare 2m of hose and a couple of connectors and ended up hooking it up properly. No leaks, no hassle.If you want a cheap option, and don't need anything fancy, this is ideal.

This hose reel is incredible value for money when compared to other makes such as Hozelock. I've not used this for a hosepipe but for the mains hook up cable which supplies electricity for our caravan. Admittedly, I've cut off the hose adaptor to allow the cable to feed through. The item isn't the most sturdy and other brands like Hozelock feel stronger but you will have to pay a lot more money for one of those. If I ever need a reel for a hosepipe, I'd purchase another one of these without a doubt. I'm expecting the small green plugs which are used to attached the handles to need replacing as I believe a nut and bolt would do a better job.

I bought two of these to replace ageing Hozelock hose reels. At a third of the price, I didn’t expect them to be of Hozelock quality, but I had hoped for a little more than I got.Firstly, there is no way they can hold 45 m of hose. My picture shows one with 25 m of hose next to an old Hozelock, also with 25 m on it, but it could hold a bit more. Not so the Silverline, and it loses one star for making this exaggerated claim.Next: Of the two reels I ordered, only one came with assembly instructions. The first box I opened did not, and that caused some trouble when I inserted the handle the wrong way round. It locked into place and was not easy to get out again. The second box had instructions, and when followed, assembly is straightforward, but the missing instructions cost another star.This hose reel is much less sturdy than the Hozelock, but probably good enough for its purpose. All in all it reflects the price, but it’s not especially good value for money.

I don't use this item for a hosepipe (although it would probably be fine for a small backyard/garden with a short hose) I needed this for electric tape fencing and for that it is perfect. There is plenty of capacity for a whole reel of tape and keeps it tangle free. The frame is stable enough to reel it all in and to pull it out without difficulty.One star lost for assembly which needs care and requires some force. This isn't the first reel I have put together, and would recommend putting the part on the end of the handle, which is the last part to be fitted, and is the piece that goes from outside into the centre of the frame, into hot, but not boiling water (carried out, of course, by an adult with suitable safety precautions!) for 30 seconds or so to soften the plastic, It then fits in easily.

Absolutely dreadful! My existing hosing doesn’t even fit, even though it’s standard size. Awful to set up and feels like it could break at any moment - and that’s before I have to buy some more hosing to fit the stupid thing! Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Says guarantee forever. Comes as a flat pack . The plastic pins keep falling out as there isn't anything to secure them. All clicks together with no tools but is a real faff. My hands ache. I should just have spent £55 on a hose and trolley in B&M. Much easier, especially if you have arthritis in your hands. If I have any issues moving forward I'll update this review

Great value for money & light weight saves on carriage. Plastic pins were a little tricky to insert, so need to check visually that holes lined up accurately. Think instructions should make it clear that these pins click when fully inserted. Rotating union was initially very stiff & despite using good quality reinforced hose, kinking occurred at first few attempts to reel in hose. Needed to be worked several times to free it up. Think it should be made clear that good quality reinfoeced hose shuoudl be used. That said, once these minor issues were resolved, the product fulfills expectations.
