The Art of Zootropolis Hardcover – 8 Mar. 2016

I love this book, it's lavish from front to back. As you can see from included pictures, it has many concept sketches and drawings from the inital idea to production photos. I have bought many of this style of book, this being a later one, but it has become one of my favourite and I have still to see the film. If you are unsure to buy it, I would persuade you to not think twice, in my opinion I would think you would not regret it. Very Highly recomended. Brilliant!

I loved the movie, later watching a video by Jake Parker he quickly summarised it in his top five. It captures some character designs, set designs (city scape), light and colour choices. A well made book showing more behind the seens art work and process, than photo rips from the finished product. This is unlike many badly made art of books. One of my favourites.

The film was, in my opinion, one of the best animated features for some time. Fantastic, funny story, great characters and, of course, a visual feast. This book offers a real insight into the creation of their amazingly designed world and its many inhabitants. Recommended!

A fantastic, proper art book filled with drawings and illustrations showing the full design process for characters and settings, with detailed descriptions of the process. My only gripe really being the title- why the UK distributors of the film decided to rename it from Zootopia to Zootropolis is beyond me, but it makes no odds to how great this book is. Well worth picking up if you loved the film.

These art books are always great value for money so after watching Zootropolis, I wanted to learn about the production designs that went into the film and I wasn't disappointed after buying this book.The main focus of this book is the city Zootropolis itself, going into great detail about the work that went into creating this city and you can really see the amount of logic that was used in pre-production, examining how animals from different habitats could coexist in a single space and showcasing concept sketches that range from the city's skyscrapers to props and wallpaper.It's also interesting to see how much the character designs can change between initial concept sketches and final animation, as well as what concepts didn't make it into the final film. As in previous art books, there are plenty of annotations provided from the film's creative team to help readers further understand the creative process behind Zootropolis.In conclusion, I'd recommend this book to fans of Disney's animation films and artists.

I can but only echo the glowing comments of the other reviewers here: this book is absolutely first rate. The artwork is fantastic and is supported by interesting and informative narrative as to how the animals, characters, plot and overall look of the film was developed. All this presented in a quality hardback book. Great stuff.

The art book is so nice and it worth buying for sure. I am not to happy about the cute in the front of the cover. so that is why it does not get a 5 star.

This is a fantastic book. I read it from cover to cover and it was definitely worth the purchase. It's full of illustrations, concept art, and information about the film's creation. As a Computer Animation student this book is not only interesting but also very helpful to my studies.

Ich bin begeistert von der Qualität des Drucks, alles ist schön sauber und scharf, das Buch ist richtig schwer, der Einband stabil. Musste ein wenig warten, da das Buch aus UK kam (war also zu erwarten), aber bin absolut zufrieden.

Una buena película no siempre viene acompañada de un artbook que esté a la altura y que sirva de buen acompañamiento. Los artbooks de las películas Disney son un poco irregulares en los últimos tiempos, pero con The Art of Zootropolis alcanzan un alto nivel. Los creadores de Zootropolis aprovechan este libro para ampliar todo el universo ideado para la película y que no se pudo mostrar, un mundo muy rico en detalles, y se explica todo el desarrollo de la historia, que era muy distinto en sus comienzos.Todas las explicaciones vienen acompañadas de infinidad de arte conceptual de mucha belleza. Quizá quede un poco cojo en el apartado de personajes, ya que la ciudad es la principal protagonista del libro, pero la evolución de los protagonistas así como el diseño de otros personajes (incluidos algunos que al final no aparecieron en la película) tiene su apartado correspondiente.La película es una de las mejores que ha hecho Disney en los últimos años (muy superior a Frozen, en mi opinión) y el libro no defrauda.

Even if I'm a little sad to not own the US version (as a French guy), I have to say that the only difference is about the movie title so...I love this book. It's inspiring, surprisingly full of surprises, and there are so many pictures in it that I can't count. There's almost everything they needed to make the movie (at least, they give us enough information and concepts in this book).It's a must have. Go for it.

VERSIONE EUROPEA di un artbook dalla rilegatura eccellente, comprendente sovraccoperta, copertina rigida ed un dorso robusto; ennesimo volume Disney elaborato da Chronicle Books.Il libro comprende essenzialmente 4 capitoli:• A World Designed By Animals- vengono descritti i processi messi in atto per "Animalizzare il mondo", a partire dalle architetture fino al vestiario.• The Animals in Zootropolis- Sono riportati gli studi preparatori messi in atto durante la creazione dei due personaggi principali, Judy Hopps e Nick Wilde.• Zootropolis habitats- Uno sguardo prima generale e più avanti particolare degli ambienti interni ed esterni comprendente gli studi di personaggi ad essi inerenti; il capitolo presenta anche sketch di soggetti ed ambientazioni che non sono apparsi nel film.• Filming Zootropolis- Le sfide intraprese dai produttori, come riprodurre l'effetto di camera "Live-Action" e i differenti tipi di pelo animali.Tutto sommato,quest' artbook è sia un bellissimo volume per gli appassionati, sia un discreto oggetto di studio.Potrebbe far storcere il naso, soprattutto ai collezionisti, sapere che si tratta della versione europea/UK , che si differenzia da quella originale americana dal titolo, una scelta causata da problemi di copyright.Conseguentemente, nel libro il nome della metropoli cambia da "Zootopia"(US) a "Zootropolis"(UK), ma ci sono casi in cui questa transizione non avviene, forse a causa di una distrazione da parte degli editor.A parte questo neo, il volume è IDENTICO alla versione americana.
