I did not expect the simple perfection. Three useful settings. Eggs are easier to peal. The device is solid and safe with usual caution. And it’s small. I do just one soft boiled most often, four is great for one or two people.

Get to know machine, try a couple of eggs in your preferred style. I took a timer and set in 4 large eggs to hard boil. Brand says it takes 19 minutes. Set it up, did some exercise where Icould see the light and hear beep. Beep sufficient to hear across room. Might be mistaken but thought machine turned off earlier than 19 min . More like 16. Egg was perfectly done, with no ring of darker color. ( I do prick a hole in fat end which most machines re commend.) I almost immediately did a other 2 eggs, and let the machine beep when done, and checked it against a separate timer. Still a difference of couple minutes. Believe the machine can be trusted for an edible hard boiled egg. Good thing all eggs are edible!! Waiting on grocery run to get more eggs to try the steamed eggs,! To ez peel, ice bath upon finish, and tap shell to crack and roll egg with lite pressure to break into pieces. The inner membrane will help shell to come off in large sections.

The appliance is compact, easy to use, and takes up very little space on the countertop.

Cooks perfect onsen egg! I do like to leave it in about 10mins longer the yolk tastes so much better. It’s so hard to actually boil the egg to make it like the way I like it. This does it and we use it daily for our house.

You place eggs in, you press button, just works For steamed eggs it works best for 2 eggs load but 3 eggs with 5 extra minutes also came out great Cons The steady increase of temperature during cooking makes separating the shells difficult if you use soft boil option, must be rapidly cooled when you take them out

The steaming function is nice (keep in mind the egg will continue to cook in the little pot, even if removed from the machine). The onsen tamago setting undercooks the egg so I suggest leaving it in the machine another 5 minutes or so.

So if your first consideration is volume, not the egg cooker for you; the fastest setting is soft-boiled at around 14 minutes. That means 16 possible eggs an hour. Other cookers make more than that at once. If your consideration is speed, again the shortest cooking time is 14 minutes. Other egg cookers say they do it in half that. If you like your eggs done like that, good for you. But if your consideration is the quality of what comes out of your egg cooker, and are fussy about the textures of your eggs, then this here one is for you. Following the instructions is as simple as: put in eggs; add ambient room temperature water; touch control button to select setting. Then it plays a jingle to let you know when they're done and it's time to take them out; and like anything that you are cooking, if you leave them in longer, expect that they will continue to cook, ie. get firmer and firmer, so don't blame the cooker (reviewers) if you don't pay attention. It's not like it's hard to take them out and set them on the counter, the eggs sit on a cute little rack with handles that comes up out of the water so you can lift them out and set them aside when you hear the chime.

I bought this for one single purpose: egg custard. I have other steam cookware, but I can never make a perfect egg custard. This does the job so well: perfect pudding texture, beautiful color and no air bubbles inside or outside . All I need to do is : 2gg+ 1/2 cup water, remove the foam after whisking. Now I can have egg custard everyday
