Good quality buy
I have used quite a few D Link products in the past and all have been good quality so when i saw this I thought I got to give it a try. I wasn't disappointed as it performs great. Of course people are going to get different results depending on there connection but I like it and its very compact.

Superb
Needed a cheap wireless adapter and this fits the bill perfectly. Reputable well known brand, allows for the computer to connect to WiFi for basic web browsing and video watching, auto-detected under Windows 10 and used straight away. Highly recommended for a cheap, reliable web surfing.

Got working with Macbook Pro/OSX Mountain Lion but took persistence
My sister's inbuilt Wifi on her oldish Macbook pro got fried, so I was looking for a new solution. I bought this because I saw Mac drivers on D-Link's web site. Didn't notice or pay much attention to fact that latest driver was only for Mac Lion. The installer appeared to work but the instructions on it talk about stuff in Network preferences which simply isn't there and nothing worked. Did a bit more research and discovered via Google that it contains a Realtek rtl8192su chip, so I went to the Realtek web-site and found a mountain lion driver but the link pointed at a javascript void. Decided to try opening the web page in Safari instead of Firefox and voila, the link worked - downloaded Wlan_11n_USB_MacOS10.8_Driver_UI_2.0,1 De-installed the previous driver as required in the instructions in the first dialog of the new installer (using the de-installer for the previous driver, not the one in the new driver software package) The installer seemed pretty much the same as the previous driver, again with the nonsense instructions BUT when I rebooted, a blue light started flashing on the USB drive and a special Wifi dialog box opened, from which I was able to connect to Wifi. It doesn't integrate at all with the Mac Airport pie indicator on the top bar, but it does work. Note that "it just worked" there was no need to poke around in network preferences as suggested in the instructions - your mileage may vary though. The good: Once you have it working, it seems reliable and faster than the inbuilt Wifi was. It is tiny - the plan is to leave it in all the time and the macbook can still be slid in and out of its cover with a little care. The price was pretty good! The bad: Getting it working (on a mac!) requires hunting and detective work. The Realtek installation driver gives unnecessary and incorrect instructions. Whilst functional, the configuration/connection tool is clunky and not as intuitive as Mac users might typically expect.

Might be okay if you're running Windows XP or Vista.
I bought this to attach to a Synology diskstation, so I could put my backup storage in another room. The DWA-131 is listed as a compatible wireless dongle. However, it's the hardware version A1 of the D-Link DWA-131 that is specifically listed. Nowhere on the Amazon page does it say that the one I bought would be H/W version E1. Which is incompatible. So I thought I'd try it on a Windows 10 computer. Mistake. The supplied installation disk doesn't have Windows 10 drivers and, moreover, the setup file on the installation disk will not even run under Windows 10: Windows 10 just refuses to run it, even when 'run as administrator'. The D-Link website is no use either, as they don't seem to have realised that Microsoft have released Windows 10 and there is no mention of it, nor any drivers or information at all. I then thought I'd try it in a very old Windows XP pc. Unfortunately, the cd drive in that pc stopped working about 5 years ago, and I'd never replaced it as I don't use that pc at all. No problem, I'll just download the drivers from the D-Link website. But the driver download section on the D-Link website doesn't know about hardware version E1, so there isn't the option to download drivers for the one I've bought. At this point, after about 3 hours, I lost the will to live, and chucked it in the bin. Poor show from D-Link for not keeping up with windows releases. Poor show from Amazon for not making it clearer what version of the DWA-131 they're selling.

Nice and Easy to use
purchased this USB Wi-FI 6 looking to increase the performance of my laptop from Gaming too far the device is pumping out some quick Wi-Fi Speeds, I'm using this in combination with my ASUS WI-Fi Gaming router RT-AX86U. Relatively easy to install, I made the mistake of originally plugging the thing into a USB-2.0 port, wondering why there wasn't a noticeable speed increase. then I released the mistake and plugged it into USB 3.0 port, Software, and installation on the driver straightforward and was up and running within minutes.

Mise à niveau d'un ancien pc portable dont la carte wifi ne permettait plus de se connecter à la fibre optique en Belgique (réseau même pas détecté)... Une fois cet adaptateur Wifi installé, super débit et bonne stablité.

Was looking for a wireless adapter for my new Ubuntu build and purchased this based off of the previous reviews that indicated it worked with Ubuntu 18.04.02 LTS, which I can confirm it does. It's not exactly plug-and-play like in Windows, but it's still do-able for novices. Once you plug the adapter in, open up Software & Updates > Additional Drivers tab. In there you should see D-Link Corp.: Unknown and an option to either "Do not use the device" or "Using dkms source for the r8812au network driver from rtl8812au-dkms (open source)". Choose that open source option and click Apply Changes. It might take a few minutes, but it should go through. Note you may be prompted to enter a password for secure boot (this is called the MOK key) - go ahead and enter an easy-to-remember password (MOK key). After that, you'll need to reboot (it will most likely automatically prompt you to reboot, if not then just reboot manually). Pay attention during the reboot since you'll need to press the Enter key to enter the MOK key process (you'll see a window asking if you want to do this). I forget the exact terminology, but you want to navigate into a section where you type in that easy-to-remember password (MOK key) you just made. Once you put that password in, do whatever you need to do to gracefully get out of the MOK key area and complete the reboot process, eventually landing at the normal user log-in screen you see every time you reboot your computer. Once you log in, the adapter should work just fine. Don't miss that MOK key process since you'll need to remove and redo the driver installation process again to get back to it. IMO driver processes like this (and this is an easy one!) are one of the biggest hurdles for normal users moving into Linux-land.... Another thing to note is the drivers don't automatically load every time you start/restart your computer. To have them automatically load up every time you restart (which is likely something you'll want), is add the module name to the /etc/modules file. To find your module name, first get everything fully installed and working fine, then in a terminal window type lsmod. This will show you all of your kernel modules. Look for the name of this puppy - in my case it's 8812au (derived from the rtl8812au-dkms I previously mentioned) - and copy that text. For your next terminal command, type in sudo gedit /etc/modules - this will open a text editor and at the bottom of that file just paste in the text you copied. Save and exit gedit, restart your computer, and viola. Note that apparently my current Ubuntu build has a but where the wireless icon at the top right (near the speaker & power button) entirely disappears **sometimes** but the wireless still connects and works just fine. You can confirm everything is still working OK by going into your Settings > Wi-fi and you'll see you're still connected just fine. I am using this with my NETGEAR R8000-100NAS Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band Gigabit Wireless Router Model R8000-100NAS and 1 gbps down / 20 mbps up internet connection. Wireless speeds about 15 feet away through one interior wall are 176 mbps down (22 MB/s down) and 23 mbps up (maxing out my upload internet speed)
