The best bean slicer / stringer on the market
Possibly the best thing since sliced bread.Works very well to remove the strings from beans. Don't use on very large beans as it will get clogged.Take care when you remove the cutter from the package as I managed to cut my finger quite badly.The tool is excellent and extremely useful during the runner bean season.Recommended

Very useful
Ordered this as my parents had one and we have alot of runner beans this year. Such a good tool with a small blade to 'top and tail' and an expanding slicer to accommodate different size beans, which also removes the stringy sides of the bean. Easy to use and easy to clean.

Lifechanging!
I only met one of these for the first time recently at the house of friends, I can't believe I've never seen one before.It is a much, much better way to prepare runner beans for cooking. You just push the bean through, the stringy edges are thinly sliced off, and the rest is cut lengthways. So all those fibres are cut through and you get the flavour of the beans without the awkward chewiness. Fantastic!

Good stringer, poor slicer
The stringer works well, but the aperture for the slicer is so small you can only slice very slim beans

This really does work well
I've contemplating purchasing this item for some time now, as I couldn't believe that it would actually work any better than the devices found in the shops. I was extremely pleasantly surprised. Usually, it takes me an age to trim and slice my runner beans with the traditional square device with cutters. This device took me minutes to do a huge bundle of runner beans.I never write reviews, although I do usually read what other people have posted, to get a sense of whether something is worth buying or not. I couldn't believe my luck when buying this item, as it worked so well - much better than I had ever imagined. It's a real must have item if you slice your own runner beans. I'm even tempted to buy a 2nd one, just in case something happens to the one I purchased.
