Piano Time Classics: The Oxford Piano Method

A super book of easy arrangements of well known classics. Thus will delight and motivate a pianist grade 1 to 3 standard.

I bought this for my 8 year old at the suggestion of her teacher. It was lovely hearing her play tunes that I actually recognised. The 'blue danube' piece is exactly the same as the one I played when I was learning the piano eons ago. My piece was part of a book of strauss waltzes but I much prefer the variety of pieces in this book as waltzes can become a bit tedious. My only reservation about the book is that the pieces do seem to get harder very quickly so I don't think it would work as her only piano book. Also the pieces are quite sophisticated and some of them are probably a bit old fashioned for most little girls. It would be great for an old fogey like me who is just a bit rusty!

I am a piano teacher. This book is great for pupils who would like to play famous pieces after about their first or second year. The Fur Elise is a gem as everyone wants to play it and in essence it hardly differs from the beginning of the original. The book is also useful as satisfying sight reading for around grades 3 and 4.

World of Books probably accounts for most of my second-hand buying. For good reason!

The pieces are short enough to use as an additional aid to ABRSM or Trinity sight reading exercises, also roughlyat a grade 3 level to acclimatise pupils to pieces commensurate with grade examinations with a good and interesting selection of different composers.
