Love this leash! We have a 6 month old Doberman and she's getting so big, so fast so we knew we needed something sturdy! This is definitely sturdy and no doubt has the strength to hold back the power of my strong pup who's always trying to get me to run! haha We ordered the Medium leash which is 78 inches long.....plenty long! It's perfect for running with her and taking her on hikes where she likes to jump from rock to rock....gives me time to catch up to her! haha I love the soft mesh padding...it's so comfortable for gripping and doesn't rub my hand raw as sometimes I'll wrap it around my fist to bring her closer to me when I'm training her to walk beside me. As you can see in the pics, it's perfect length for her for all our outings and adventures! I also love the fact that it has the 3m reflective material because we like to take evening walks with her and it's nice that it's bright orange, with it reflecting so people can see us. I highly recommend this leash! It's held up nicely! Still like new as much as we walk her. We also purchased the matching Chai’s Choice Best Front Range Dog Harness so they go perfect together! You won't be disappointed with this purchase!

I am picky about my leashes. We hike a lot. My dog is strong and though she doesn’t pull a lot, I don’t want a flimsy leash and I want it comfortable in my hand. Padded leashes aren’t that common so I researched until I found this. The whole leash is soft and the reflective thread is a bonus and they are bright colors which help with visibility. I bought 2, hot pink, hi vis yellow, will buy a third in orange. Great price for the quality.

High visibility, long enough to let him wander a bit, short enough for me to control his occasional bursts of speed.

Not discounting the poor reviews that some others have posted--it certainly seems like there is or was a design and/or construction issue on some of these leashes. I didn't happen to see those reviews until my item was already on the way. I'm relieved that mine seems very solid.As a mechanical/materials engineer, I noticed the spring on mine is very stiff and doesn't seem prone to weakening, but we shall see. The hook-shaped clasp seems well-shaped such that the pull of the harness or collar will be where it should be--and not on the weaker closing piece. Perhaps there was a redesign or a bad batch out there, but mine seems solidly designed and built. I will update if I notice any changes.The leash is a nice length for a tall person and a short dog (French bulldog), a combo which would test its length limits. It would certainly work well for a shorter person and taller dog as well. It's nice and lightweight, but the strap feels sturdy and comfortable in my hands.

This is a very nice dog leash and coordinates with the harness we also purchased. It's padded and durable, and has reflective lines for nighttime visibility. My only concern is that the hook is made of plastic, not metal. It worries me that it will snap or break under stress. With the harness, the 44" is sufficient for bike path walks, but it might be nice to have the longer one too. Our dog is a 55# GoldenDoodle, so we opted for the wider leash.

This is very sturdy but much more comfortable on my hands than the Swiss rope.

I walk a very head strong beagle who is fitted with the matching harness and I haven't any issues with my leash clip as the other reviewers have mentioned (mind you I haven't had the leash for a long time). My only disappointment is that the reflective strips are not on both sides of the leash, they are just on one side, and the photos/description didn't allow me to see that. Otherwise, I like that it's lightweight, a good length and still feels sturdy - I would buy this item again.
