I told myself I would only read a few chapters one night, and somehow found myself up at midnight, still reading. The characters I fell in love with in the first novel are given more page-time in this sequel, and Sophie's adventures take a darker, more emotional turn. While I highly enjoyed KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES, Messenger surprised me with how incredible EXILE turned out to be. If you are looking for a fun and creative middle-grade series that is filled with surprises and fabulous characters, then you need to check out these books.HIGHLIGHTS: I love how important family and friendship is in this series. While Sophie relies heavily on herself, she also leans on her friends (especially Dex and Keefe) and family (the fabulous Grady and Edaline) when she needs some extra support. I even enjoyed Sophie's struggles with her abilities in this novel, and how she never let that hold her back. The new details Messenger included about Sophie's fascinating world were fantastic. While reading, I never knew what to expect from this story, so I was very surprised by certain moments.LOWLIGHTS: I didn't make note of any lowlights while reading, so I think it's safe to say that I highly enjoyed this entire story. I was a bit bothered by Fitz's moody attitude, but I understand why he acted the way he did.SOURCE: received an advanced readers copy from publicist in exchange for my honest opinion. I will be purchasing this book ASAP, because this is one that I definitely want on my bookshelf.

NO SPOILERS! (for first or second book!)I absolutely loved the first book of this series (Keeper of the Lost Cities) and the second was EVEN BETTER. No idea how, but it totally was!Can't say too too much about this book without spoiling it, so I won't say much at all!All I will say is I feel like the first book has a lot of world building and laying of the foundation for a longer, richer, more mysterious story. The first book is a peek into that story but the second really gets its hands into the story and gets dirty. Exile is PACKED with so much adventure, suspense, intrigue and excitement which made it even more of a delight to read than the first. We didn't have to spend so much time setting up and laying the groundwork so there was all this time to start getting into the meat of the universe. It was delightful!I loved this one so hard. Loved it more than the first. It was so exciting, so fun. UGH I LOVE THIS SERIES IT'S JUST SO FREAKING GREAT.If you have not picked up the Keeper of the Lost Cities series yet, what are you doing. It is so freaking good, get on that right this very second. GO READ IT. Everyone must read this series! In addition, the Hardcover book is SO BEAUTIFUL! The book cover is gorgeous, the binding, it's just a really beautiful book to have on your shelf. And it's so thick! It especially looks nice lined up next to your hardcover copy of the first ;) I definitely recommend picking up the hardcovers rather than the paperbacks of this series because they're very gorgeous.Can't wait to read the 3rd book. Waiting on the price to drop a little on Amazon so I can order it because I just love this series so hard.

Shannon Messenger has created this amazing world that you never want to leave! So in love with this series!!!! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Quick action, interesting (albeit brief) questions of right and wrong and good and evil. I liked the first a bit better, but this sequel does make me want to read the third, which means it fulfilled its purpose.

I have nothing to say except this book is amazing, try it and read the other books to there just as good or better.

The characters were likeable or easy to dislike, depending on who Sophie was interacting with. Everyone contributed pressure in Sophie's liife, some more than others.I gave the entire series to my youngest grand daughter, and she loves it.Reading about the adventures of Sophie's Foster is the key to Becoming part of the story yourself, and who hasn't wanted to be an Elf with Talent.

this is an amazing book! came super fast, and in great condition, my daughter lovved it so much! encouraged her to read over the summer! this series is great, and definitly recomend! she said this was her favorite book ever! filled with fun mysteries and suspense.
