Lullaby

Nice selection of tracks, pleasant soothing music and voice - my grandchild (and me) really enjoyed this as part of his bedtime routine.

This is a wonderful CD for babies - and parents ! Doctors should prescribe this to soothe babies to sleep.After trying many different techniques to get our 11 month old daughter to sleep ( I am not a fan of letting babies "cry it out" ! ) my friend suggested playing some relaxing music. After reading the reviews on Amazon we decided to try this CD.We have used it religiously every night for 3 weeks and every night our daughter has settled into her cot and lay and listened to the music until she falls asleep. We then have the delight of listening to the rest of the CD on the baby monitor.We now play it on random as our daughter is asleep by the 5th or 6th song and it seems a shame she misses out on the rest of the CD ! I only wish we had known about this when our daughter was screaming with colic every night for 13 weeks - I'm sure it would have helped soothe her - it certainly would have helped soothed mummy and daddy !

I've just typed a long review and then lost it! But this CD is so good, its worth trying again (although a little more briefly this time!)I bought this after reading all the other reviews and i'm really glad i did because they were spot on.It soothed my fidgety 9 month daughter even at bedtime which is usually a trauma! She usually listens to Enya at bedtime but she (and we) loved this much more and i'm sorry to say Enya has now been shelved (sorry Enya - you tried!).My husband is a professional musician and he loves it as much as we do so it just goes to show, it appeals to children of ALL ages!Lullaby has style and quality and Sophie Barker has a gorgeous relaxing voice that i could listen to all day.If you want to get away from the usual cutesy, clumsy, insulting trash they churn out for children then try this.

We absolutely love this CD which has been part of our son's bedtime routine ever since he was about 6 weeks old (he's now 6 months). The songs are beautifully sung and put together. I also love the fact that you have Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Dream a Little Dream on it - non-nursery rhyme songs which make a lovely change. One of my favourites is Row Your Boat which is beautifully arranged.The only reason I haven't given this a 5 star rating is that interspersed with soothingly sung lullabies are a few spoken rhymes of which number 3 - Ride a Cock Horse - often used to jarr my son awake which was really irritating. As we only have a basic stereo in his room, I couldn't programme it to miss the song out and would often end up trying to skip the song using my foot whilst trying to rock him to sleep.Despite this, I would recommend this to anyone. Even though I've been listening to it for the last 5 months, I still love it myself!

I bought this just before my first was born and I play it every time I put them to bed for a nap in the afternoon or at night. It's become part of a routine and it helps them understand it's bed time and the lullabies are perfectly sung so mildly and gently. I also like how some are just read out bits of rhymes just to give it variety. It has worked for both my children and they slept through the night from 9pm to 9am without waking once since they were 3 months old. My eldest now 2 also likes singing along with it now. I have bought many other lullaby cds but this is the only one that works the best. I highly recommend it!

This is a truly wonderful collection of peacefully sung well known songs. We stuggled to get our daughter into a night time routine as a baby (don't most first time parents!) and, based on reviews, chose this CD to give us some help. Now, nearly two, our daughter still goes to sleep listening to Sophie Barker's soothing melodies. She has even been known to quietly sing along to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star before heading for the land of nod! It has also proved a life saver when routines have been disturbed (teething, late nights, travelling, temperatures - we've all been there!) A short cuddle and a few of these lullabies always seems to soothe and calm our daughter back to sleep. A worthy buy!

This a really lovely CD. The singer's voice is beautiful, and not at all twee or annoying, as other reviews have mentioned. The arrangement of the music is excellent and I was impressed with the selection of songs and nursery rhymes. All the classics, plus a few nice surprises. In terms of effectiveness, this CD definitely helps to soothe my little girl. I first played it all the way through (several times!) after she had her first set of vaccinations and was crying inconsolably. It didn't send her to sleep but it helped calm her down. Since then I have played it to her whenever she's been upset and it's always a winner! A great investment for the price.

Our baby boy is only 4 months, but this CD helps us all to fall asleep !Great selection of songs, perfectly arranged and beautifully sung - very very soothing vocals and musical arrangement.I am sure this CD will get lots & lots of use in the years ahead.As some reviewers have mentioned, 1 or 2 of the "voiced" lullabies are a bit jaring and do not sit quite so easily on this CD as the vast majority of the tracks. However, this reason is not enough to not recommend this CD.Usually Baby and I are fast asleep by the time the last track ends. Priceless !
