What a Great Bit of Kit.
There are plenty of other reviews online and also here on Amazon about how good this device is. But in short from my point of view, this was a recommendation from a very reliable YouTube source who provide online "White Hat Hacking Courses" and he is very good. Im currently studying, Internet Security, which includes, Networks, VPN's and Penetration Testing. This device was recommended because it has so many supports, such as, WEP 64/128, 802.1x / WiFi Protected Access (WPA), WPA-PSK / WAP II-PSK / Cisco CCX support, / WAPI-PSK,WAPI-CERT.Now it states on the box when you get it, that it only supports, WindowsXP / Vista / 7, and Linux operating systems. I'm using a MacBook Pro with Retina and running a Virtual Machine on it, so I'm able to place a number of different operating systems on one computer. This adapter once you have booted into you VM, works perfect. If like me your using a Linux OS for Pen Testing and security, setting this WiFi card up is easy as hell, and the amount of networks you can pic up is brilliant. The range is very big, hence the reason this is one if not the best Network WiFi card out there at the moment of me typing this. Not many other network cards get a 5* Star rating, so the information is all there to prove.Buy this folks, you will not regret it.

Works OotB for Popular Linux OS's
Only taken delivery today, so can't speak of reliability and robustness, but very pleased so far. The unit comes with some nice mounting options and a reasonable length USB cable. Most importantly, this has worked OotB for Ubuntu, Kali, and Tails Linux distros... Plug and Go!

Works out of the box for Linux. Worth every penny.
Works out of the box for Linux. I have been messing around for ages with using a USB WiFi adapter as a backup network interface for my home backup & media server (Primary interface is Powerline ethernet). All the USB WiFi adapters sold on Amazon have REALTEK chips (there are no USB WiFi adapters with Intel chips beyond about 15 years ago) and these are utterly painful to keep running, because realtek don't merge their drivers reliably into the Linux kernel. If you buy a cheap USB WiFi yes you can download a Linux USB driver module and yes you use DKMS automatically to re-install it every time your Linux kernel updates .. but fairly quickly it'll stop working (especially across a major version change of the kernel). Something will go wrong. Before someone from the far East comments "it's really easy to use my easytek 1200, just download the Linux driver, you are so stupid" be aware : as soon as you read that you have to install a Linux driver to get a USB WiFi to work, stop right there and throw the USB WiFi away. It'll work maybe the first time, it'll work for a while, then it will not work, and you are in a world of pain: I have better things to do with my time. It'll only have cost you £6 anyway. My strong advice : buy the Alfa USB wifi, it's driver is part of the Linux kernel (Ubuntu 16.04 +) and it'll just work. It's not 5g, it's quite an old chip, but I don't care.

Great for Linux, not for Windows.
Works well for Linux which is what I purchased it for as it allows monitor mode, however I also tried to use it on windows as I have dual boot, yet there's no drivers for it, took a while but eventually I found a working driver, but it was a pain to install.

Works perfectly with a Roland Integra-7 sound module
The original Roland WNA-1 series of USB wireless adapters have been discontinued. I ordered this to try instead and it appears to work very well. This allows the Roland Integra-7 to wirelessly communicate with an IPad running the editor software.

Atheros AR9271 Chipset - Native support for Kali
I have this paired with a "Alfa 9Dbi Wifi Booster Sma Omni-Directional High-Gain Screw-On Swivel Antenna" which makes it a powerful WiFI adaptor that has very good range. The best features is the chip set as it has extra features such as Monitor mode and packet injection support. I have this hooked up to a Raspberry Pi running Kali and it does everything I expect from it.It is well built, decent moulded case. I would prefer it to come with Micro USB but using Mini is no problem.Solid buy

Kali loves this WIFI adapter!
Bought this specifically to run under Kali Linux and worked like a bliss on my laptop. On PC in a virtual box it took a little fiddling around to get it to work, as described in other reviews but that is merely a problem of virtual box. To the wifi strength, I had a wifi adapter before on my pc which lost signal at the first floor of the house as the router is downstairs. The Alfa Network adapter didn't lose signal yet at all and is super easy to use. Even though a driver cd comes with it, it works fine plug and play. I highly recommend this wifi adapter as its cheap and runs with Kali Linux super easily.

despite using the 9271 chipset that my other £2 card uses that CAN go in to Master mode just fine. I spent about 12 solid hours
WANT THIS FOR KALI?Firstly i want to say, i could have a fake Alfa card (It definitely looks legit though) or this could just be faulty. If not though, then listen up.Compared to the AWUS036H, the receive strength of this card is absolutely rubbish. The AWUS036H blows this thing completely out of the water. I bought a second generic adapter with the same chip as this card for £2 on ebay and it performs exactly the same. If your looking for a card for monitor mode or packet injection then get the 036H. Sure it doesn't support N speeds, bit everything that is N supports the 036H so it doesn't really matter.I bought this card for using in Master mode as an AP. It doesn't work, despite using the 9271 chipset that my other £2 card uses that CAN go in to Master mode just fine. I spent about 12 solid hours tearing my hair out trying to set up an AP with this card and it caused so many problems in Kali you wouldn't beleive. Full system crashes, network crashes and restarts, prevents me from logging in when i start with it plugged in, prevents me from shutting down with it plugged in. It's a nightmare. Yes my system is completely up to date, including drivers. So in conclusion for monitor mode or packet injection, forget this and buy the AWUS036H. For Master mode, forget this and buy something else (Not the 036H as it does not support Master mode)
