Mushroom Growing Kit - Grow Your Own Brown Button Suffolk Mushrooms - Perfect for Beginners

I much prefer to get an item, It's fantastic & does what it's meant too & I can then give them a five star review... Sadly With this, I did something that I never usually do & I purchased without reading the reviews.This isn't the cheapest or the most expensive so I wrongly thought that if I went mid-range I'd get a decent kit.My Son has been wanting me to get one of these kits for ages and after going through a few rough weeks at school, I presented this and his frown really did turn upside down 😁. We followed all the instructions on the same day it was delivered and patiently waited and waited and waited and absolutely nothing happened. I'm not proud of how I handled this as we don't tell lies, But after all he's been through (School bullies at just 6 years old), Whilst he was at school I went to my local supermarket, Bought some mushrooms and shoved a couple in the soil, That evening, Just before dinner so I had my back to him I said "When was the last time you checked on the mushrooms" His reply was heartbreaking 'I've probably messed this up like I do with everything else Mum', I said it was worth a look and that he'd done absolutely nothing wrong.... My Husband's tea went all over his lap with the shriek that followed and he came running in with 1 mushroom in each hand with a smile so big (which I haven't seen in a long time) He was truly over the moon with his 2 mushrooms & after giving them a bit of a rinse off (I'd added a sprinkling of the soil for effect) He asked if it was too late to add them to tonight's dinner as he wanted to share his 1st 2 with me & his dad (Who by now had stopped moaning about his tea & his trousers!), I said that was a very lovely and very thoughtful idea & that I'd chop them up & add them straight away, Which he watched me do so happily.During our dinner I did have to hide a little smile when our Son proudly said, 'You're right Dad, Home grown does taste much nicer doesn't it', After their conversation about everything we could probably grow both indoors and in the garden. I actually felt my smile slipping away when I was nominated to get this started & when our son said he was sure there would be more mushrooms tomorrow as he thought he'd seen at least another 3 that looked like they were going to pop up, I've no idea what she'd seen but when I looked there was absolutely nothing there, Except for the 3 big mushrooms and 1 small mushroom that I'd just pushed in & sprinkled a little soil on, Ready for him to find the next day...My reason for a one star review:-It's now half term and I'm finding it extremely difficult to Keep sneaking the mushrooms in, Without being spotted.This set wasn't exactly cheap & now after reading some reviews, I have to agree with the person who said it was expensive compost, However it's really very good for sprinkling I've found.To Conclude...*Always read the reviews.*Don't tell a lie to your child which makes them shriek so loudly that your Husband spills hot tea on his trousers (Which have remained stained!) as this then becomes a lie that only you & your best friend knows about (& finds it hilarious!!).*After spending quite a bit of money on a mushroom kit, That hasn't provided any mushrooms & is just Really expensive compost, Be prepared to have to spend more money as you constantly have to buy more to sneak in each day.*And lastly... ALWAYS READ THE REVIEWS

Due to cold weather the mushrooms took a little while to get going. Grown on shelf above a radiator in my bedroom. Enjoy seeing them each morning

Generally I try to avoid negative feedback as a company is after all trying through a tough market to keep going through sales. This kit however is nothing more than a useless gimmick. Within 24hrs of receiving it my son and I got to work making the kit up via the instructions. 10 days later and nothing has so far happened, my son is so disappointed that I felt I had to leave a negative feedback for once. This kit is nothing more than a very expensive tub of compost.Update: just checked again before bed and it is still nothing more than stinking compost. I’ve reached out to the seller via Amazon and Twitter. No response. Please think twice before purchasing as a gift.

got 1 mushroom out of it. thats all. Wasnt able to grow any more so bit of a waste of money as a gift.

I followed the instructions meticulously, for a few weeks nothing happened then two began to emerge, since they have rotted and no more came up, I am really disappointed, I had hoped for a full refund but I doubt that will happen.

I followed the instructions, but didn't get any mushrooms. I was disappointed. Not to say it isn't my fault, I'm not very good at growing things.

Followed the instructions to the letter and ended up with an evil smelling swamp! I've grown mushrooms from kits in the past and had good crops but this was a total waste of money. When the parcel arrived it was leaking brown sludge. I added less water than was specified in the instructions and the whole mixture is disgusting and smelly. Utter rubbish !!!
