More of a good thing!
Wingspan Asia is a fantastic 'next step' game for when you're ready for a touch more complexity on game night. It features gorgeous bird artwork along with real life facts for each bird.Interesting twist with a new 2 player stand alone version of Wingspan called Duet. Also adds support for a 7 player game (requires base game, not included). Or - just integrate it with your base game for more variability in cards and end game goals.I highly recommend it for the nature lovers in your life.

Fun game for 2!
I have the original wingspan and a couple expansions. I really like this expansion because it does double duty as a standalone game or you can add it to the original game. It felt like getting a new game into our roster since the mechanics of the 2-player standalone is different to the original. The quality was just as good as the original game (which is excellent) and the collection of birds are interesting with interesting powers. I highly recommend for anyone wanting to grab a great game for date night or a really cool expansion with different goals to mix it up.

Probably the best Wingspan entry point
Wingspan Asia is a stand-alone game that is compatible with the rest of Wingspan. That is to say, it *could* be an expansion, but it functions as a stand-alone 2-player game as well. And I think I prefer to keep it a 2-player game. Duet mode does such a good job of making 2-player wingspan very tight and competitive. It adds a new Duet board that allows you to claim a space every time you play a bird. The end-of-round goals are completely changed, relating only to the pieces on the Duet board. You no longer have round goals for eggs in trees, or birds with small wings. Instead, you get points for placing your Duet tokens in straight lines, on the edges, or in certain biomes. However, you can only place Duet Tokens on spacing matching the attributes of the bird you just played. This helps new players by giving them specific attributes to pick up and play, as well as providing an interesting challenge for veteran players.I haven't played the flock mode rules yet, so I can't comment on the 6-7 player mode, but the 2 player Duet mode is phenomenal. I will be buying this as a standalone game for a few couples as their intro to Wingspan. It's that good.

Terrific addition to the game. Lots of new, beautiful birds with interesting powers
If you like Wingspan, you will have to add this expansion to your game. The new birds and bonus cards up the play to yet another level. I would definitely buy it again!

As good if not better
Wingspan Asia can be played as a separate game with 2 people or mixed into the base game as an add on.We enjoyed playing the Duet (2 players) mode for the first time today. The new board design on one side has the best graphics yet, and the other side has the previous design so as to add more players to the regular (flock) game. The dice mat is a joke. We use our wood birdhouse dice tower we got on Etsy.Beautiful new birds, bonus cards that actually DO provide points, and new brown powers. We both enjoyed the Duet map - it took a wee bit of figuring out, but it lends an added layer of strategy.Hope you like it - we did!

Fantastic family game
I can't say enough good things about Wingspan. We're not a boardgame family but we've become addicted to Wingspan. Once you get the hang of it, it's a great family game. It's competitive in a way that is goal setting without being cutthroat and the dynamics of the game are such that it's possible to help others without diminishing your own chances of winning. I also like that the way the game is structured, it's difficult to tell who's winning until the end so no one feels like they should just give up.Even our extended family have started playing and most of them are not very into board games either. It's not a game for small children. It's about managing resources, food, birds, eggs and building your set. The cards interact with each other so it's more than something like UNO. I would say, if your child is old enough to understand something like Pokemon or Magic The Gathering, they're probably old enough for Wingspan. We've bought every expansion and will continue to do so.

Absolutely love this game and appreciate the 2 player mode
I've played this as both a two player game as well as an expansion to the original. We've also played in the two player mode with the Oceania expansion. In every variation of this game, it has been a ton of fun and we learn something about these beautifully illustrated birds each time! I love that this expansion includes a twist of having both round end and game end powers. It really mixes up the game so that you have no idea how you're faring against your opponent until we score at the end.
