Perfect for my Requirements
When I buy a camera I want great optics and great usability and robustness - this little star has all three.Ignore the mounts I always build solid aluminium alloy mounts from a variety of sources, 1/4” tripod thread is the key for me.I Ignore the battery life it is decent and I always carry spares so irrelevant. I tend to take many different shots so plenty of time to change batteries. There are not the gimmicks of other brands but for pro use, at this price, it is superb value. In future, I would like a different lens option but I use other cameras for a narrower shot.I only use the screen for framing the view at the start of any shoot so the smallish screen is no big deal. I can always adjust the shot in post. This solid camera fits my purposes well. I can’t stand fiddly operations when I might be in a hurry. Every camera is a compromise and has its own market.I will be buying more of these.

Good camera let down by useless mounts
The KeyMission is a good alternative to GoPro. Image quality is excellent and the camera has plenty of useful features e.g. ultra-HD, slow motion and still image with video. The mounts are hopeless. The camera comes with a ball and socket helmet mount which wobbles uselessly on its base plate. The base plate is not compatible with GoPro mounts - very annoying. The camera also wobbles on its ball mount as, for some unaccountable reason, Nikon have placed the tripod screw on the edge of the camera rather than in the centre.I also have the handlebar mount for my mountain bike. Much of the wobbliness can be alleviated by lashing the mount to a GoPro mounrt using elastic bands.Sometimes I wonder what the Nikon design engineers are thinking. Surely they must know that an action camera is only as good as it mounts?

Nikon quality
Great little all weather action camera. Wide angle lens so it's hard to miss the action. Useful accessories, remote control and a great price. I'm very happy.

Make sure it's for you, even at the reduced price.
The 170 has typical Nikon build quality so feels solid and robust. The camera is brilliantly simple to use with limited menu options to keep things simple. The start up time is fantastic, I'd guess you could go from it being switched off to recording in about a second. The record buttons (one for video, one for stills) are perfect and are big enough to easily use with gloves.But...I can't help but feel that Nikon rather abandoned this project before it really got started. For example, the lens creates a very pronounced fisheye image that is verging on the unacceptable and there are no options that I can find to crop in a bit to minimise the effect. Perhaps worst of all though is that the "lens protector" is nothing but a ring that surrounds the lens. There is no glass to protect the lens! It seems ludicrous to me that an action camera has no lens protection and I feel this is the camera's biggest failing. On the plus side it appears that the lens "turret" may be user replaceable, but don't quote me on that. There is an underwater lens protector supplied that does have a glass front and seems to work fine on land but makes the camera rather unwieldy. The tripod mount is off on one corner and will only be effective in non action camera situations. Nikon do supply a flimsy ball and socket head type thing that should keep the camera straight but it's a horrible thing that I think most people will ditch and it's made even worse cos this won't attach to a tripod. The Snapbridge wireless functionality seems very hit and miss. Much easier to just use a card reader and save yourself the frustration. The files are compatible with Iphone and will go straight in with no fuss with the appropriate card reader. If you want a simple to use action style camera and don't mind the extreme fisheye distortion or the exposed lens or the virtually useless (in action cam terms) tripod mount, this might be the camera for you. But if you intend to use it "for real" I think you might be disappointed to find it comes back from your kite surfing session facing the wrong way. Similarly, you'll probably come back from rock climbing with the camera facing the wrong way and with a scratched lens. But if you just want to stick it behind a goal at a football match and hit record from the supplied remote then this may well be the camera for you...at the reduced price. Worth looking at similar options from Olympus and Ricoh before you commit. But, having said all that, if it is going to work for you then you shouldn't be disappointed - especially with the £200 you've saved by not buying a GoPro!Hope this helps someone.

A complete dud from Nikon
This is a truly awful product and a massive disappointment - certainly not what I would have expected from a company with the reputation for quality that Nikon has. The control menu is very clumsy and the fact that it is button controlled rather than touch screen means that the LCD screen is too small to be useful. The battery life is abysmal. The fact that it has a 170° lens of course means that the picture/video is highly distorted - but GoPro have sorted this problem so how come Nikon can't? The camera overheats after recording timelapse video for less than 3 minutes and then struggles to save the data (memory card used: Samsung MB-MC 128GA/AMZ 128GB 100MB/s Class 10). Lastly, the Snapbridge app is rubbish - the only option I actually wanted to use (remote photography) does not work.In conclusion I would say that even at £139 this "camera" is a complete waste of money - guaranteed to leave you frustrated and annoyed.

Ketmission 170 added greatly to my video creativity
I bought the Keymission along with a FeyuTech gimbal and they work perfectly together to capture great video on the move.

Pdt was refurbished and not NEW
I am going to keep the camera as it appears to be working OK. I think I deserve an explanation from the seller and possibly some form of compensation!
