Classy pair of headphones that a grossly understated and brilliant
Just absolutley amazing te people saying the bass response is bad probably have the cable not in properly like I do i was say there for 10 minutes thinking hmmm this is a bit odd then I realise the cable wasn't in properly you have to turn it and click it Take great care doing it line up the slots with the Doohickeys in the jack slow on the head phones in order to e sure you have it slotted in right and then twist it so it is locked in Very clever. NOw the actual headphones are comfortable and block out all the sound almost. the sound they produce is CRISP, And responsive in all the frequencies the bass is less than my other pair BUT far superior it isn't sogg or flabby It is very tight and yummy Obviously the headphones need some running in first so give it time I played some drum and bass, Rock, classical, Jazz and Hip hop through mine all sound very good with Classical and Jazz sounding the best I thought :) they are considered studio monitors but I find they make excellent music listening headphones too because of the quality of the reproduction they are warm and comfortable too

Comfortable, high quality, neutral headphones
Excellent pair of headphones for the price. Very comfortable due to the memory foam pads. The sound is as you would expect from studio reference headphones - very neutral, clear, crisp, high quality. No exaggerated bass or treble here. Please note that these have good sound isolation. That can be a positive if you don't want outside sound intruding on your listening experience, but I was used to my Sony MDRV6, and I miss the ability to hear the doorbell while having the music up. If you DON'T want sound isolation try to find the MDR V6, or go for the MDR 7506, which is essentially the same product.

Great mids, poor bass and soundstage, some niggles with the build.
First let me say I'm reviewing these for general listening use rather than specifically studio/mixing use, if you're looking at these for studio/mixing use then you may want to skip over my review.Build and Quality:The KNS 8400's are of a lightweight plastic construction with an integrated metal band, a detachable stiff (anti-tangle) 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable with a proprietary locking mechanism, and non-replaceable memory foam ear pads and head band pads.Frankly non-replaceable ear pads is surprising in headphones in this price range an probably limits the headphone life to a couple of years, they are however very comfortable. The headband pads are a mixed bag and you may find the comfortable or not depending on your head shape etc, it comprises two separate pads rather than one continuous pad and this does increase the pressure at those points which may be uncomfortable for some.I don't like the lightweight plastic on the cans, they leak quite a bit of sound, not very badly but compared to other closed headphones they don't provide great isolation. The plastic is also quite hard and transmits sound really badly from the cable, which is also stiff just compounding the problem, if you need to use these in a situation where you move around a lot then the rubbing and knocking sounds coming up the cable might drive you a bit nuts.Sound:The 8400's undoubtedly have great mids, extreme clarity and detail, the highs can border on fatiguing but are also generally very good, the bass however is somewhat understated, perhaps a few db below neutral. The overall sound is very flat and the soundstage is pretty much neutral, like listening in a sound dampened closet, close and flat. They are also a bit quiet overall which I found surprising given the low impedance. For listening to anything mid dominant these are great provided you can tolerate the neutral soundstage and overall quietness, however its really hard to appreciate anything with a significant bass component, the 8400s do reproduce the bass well but it just lacks impact and this is probably down to the soundstage more than anything. In summary these are comfortable, great for mids and voice, but if I want to listen to any music with bass I find myself switching to other headphones. I wouldn't buy these again.Edit: A correction, the pads are replaceable (however how you get them off is beyond me). Also with amplification these sound a lot better which is surprising as they are lower impedance than my other headphones, but there you go, much better sound with amplification so bumping score up to 4 stars. The mids are so clear and detailed I can forgive them the poor bass, at least for listening to classical and similar music they surpass by other headphones by quite a margin.

Awesome Headphones
I had to purchase what will be now my second set of KRKs, as I wore my original set out. These are exactly the same and I am experiencing perfect continuity.

Decent Headset, poor lifespan
Technically a great little headset. Did me well for 18 months. However, there's a few key key issues. One - the fabric covering the internals is very prone to tearing, along with the buffers. Had to replace both pads TWICE since 2020.The female audio line in the headset is also pretty poor. Started acting up within a few months and last week I completely lost all audio in the left hand earpiece.Did me well, but for the price, I would've much rather have them last a lot longer.

Beginner's experience. Well worth it!
I'm just a beginner at mixing, so I won't be writing anything technical. Only that I was blown away at how great these sound and how much my mixes have suddenly improved because I can actually hear individual elements of the song. (I was using stereo speakers before hand, terrible I know) I bought these because I couldn't afford the Rokit 5's which I have wanted for some time now, but these work perfectly for what I need. The biggest thing I've noticed is being able to hear the Bass guitar correctly, and because of that I can make it sit properly in my mix all the time now. Great buy, recommended them to my friend so he'll be purchasing soon!Oh one more thing, these are great for recording vocals or acoustic guitars, the click doesn't bleed at all :)

KRK KNS 8400 Headphones
Spent ages looking and trying different headphones, and bought these as a 'risk' and without trying them - am pleased to say the gamble paid off. Love them.I'm already a KRK user having the Rokit 6's as my preferred studio monitors - these headphones simply add to the monitoring capabilities I know have.Great bass, mid and top clarity - and comfortable into the bargain. With so many headphones on the market at present, the only advice I can give is to take the chance and try them out for yourself. Anyone working in the sound or studio business will not be disappointed with the KRK 8400's.
