In The Lonely Hour - Drowning Shadows Edition

It's a great cd as my daughter wanted it but the package when delivered was put INSIDE the green rubbish bin outside my neighbours house so it's a good job it wasn't bin day or I wouldn't have got that or the other two items that came with it - wasn't very impressed!!

The first time I heard Sam Smith was on an advert on tv..I didn’t know who it was that was singing in this beautiful unusual voice until my Daughter told me. I decided I needed to hear more so I purchased this first album. I’ve really enjoyed listening to it. It comes with two discs, one with live performances on and he really does have a haunting voice. I like most of the tracks but really enjoy the ballads best. For me it’s not really a sing along while you do your housework cd. Its one you listen to properly while relaxing. I’m impressed enough to want to order the latest album. My daughter is at least a little impressed that I’m apparently ‘moving with the times’. I would say whatever age you are give this a try.

The original album was already 5 stars in my opinion but the 9 extra tracks are brilliant 2 covers a live track 3 remixes and a new track and an acoustic track and Nirvana from before the original album release!!! The album is beautiful! Such depth and beautifully sung lyrics. A modern classic?

I liked the fact that it was round and had that hole in the very middle of it. I think it's a perfect shape for this sort of product because it fits the CD drive perfectly well, not too small nor too big. And that's what I use this product for. You can listen to music recorded on those providing you have some sort of CD reader.

Sam is a true gift to the ears, heart and soul. Some people are comparing him to George Michael, Will Young and others, but he is his own unique voice and talent. A great talent at that! I didn't own the original debut solo CD, so it's a thrill to dive in with this double edition. Play it again, Sam! x

Really good album, especially this "Drowning Shadows Edition"! Nice & easy to listen to, creates a good atmosphere. Both the quality of Sam Smith's voice & the quality of the recording are making it more than worthwile buying this CD!

I absolutely love the hit songs on this album: Latch, Lay Me Down, Stay With Me, and also Drowning Shadows, Meant to Be, Like I Can, and Nirvana. However, I somewhat disappointed about a few things. First off, I was surprised and disappointed that the song In the Lonely Hour, which is the title of the album, is not even on it! Also, prior to buying this album, I was listening to all the songs on Youtube. The videos of Latch, Lay Me Down, and Nirvana are all acoustic versions, which are completely different from the album versions. Yes, even Latch, which is acoustic on this album as well, is different from the acoustic music video! I fell in love with the slightly more emotional and tender (as emotional as the album version is) version in the acoustic video, along with the more delicate sounds of the stringed instruments. So while I still love the album version, I still prefer the video version. Lay Me Down is also not the same as either the official music video, or the acoustic video. I don't care for the addition of the choir, because it drowns out his amazing, emotional voice towards the end that can be much better heard in the acoustic one. The same is true for Nirvana; the acoustic recording is so beautiful and emotional, yet the album recording, which includes background singers, seems a bit noisy and stagy in comparison. I'm also disappointed that some of these acoustic tracks are not available to download from Amazon. I did find Latch, though. Despite all that, I still very much enjoy the album as a whole.

Dass Sam sich manchmal anhört, als ob er ein ganz-ganz-kleines bischen lispelt, macht ihn noch sympathischer. Habe die CD im Auto laufen und dürfte dabei nicht gefilmt werden, weil mitsingen muß sein. Eine wunderbare Stimme, tolle Songs. Für Mädels ein MUSS ich haben.
