TNC Plugs Aquarium Plant Food/Aquatic Substrate Fertiliser

My son was starting his first tank so I bought him some plants and these tablets to help the plants settle and grow. All but one of the plants have done really well and the only plant he lost wasn't actually in the substrate so my son is really pleased with how the plants are doing, they have not only established well but have grown so much he has had to trim them a couple of times and a java fern is producing small plants.

Saw some really good and quick growth from a couple of amazon swords once I added these to the root base.

I don't know how well this works as I use liquid fertiliser too. Seems a good price for root tabs. Months later some of the balls are still visible 🤷 when I didn't use the liquid ferts too my plants were suffering but they are big amazon swords.

Works ok, but the capsules dissolve quickly, so if you disturb your substrate after putting them in (or even just don't position them quickly enough), you're going to have your fertiliser floating around the tank rather than anywhere near the plant roots.

I've used this product before and I was very pleased with it. For example, I previously put one capsule beneath an amazon sword plant and its growth thereafter was rapid. I will be using these new capsules to enrich my present substrate which is running out of nutrients.The product is a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Was a bit surprised on the results, pin prick the tabs so they don’t float away.Just follow the instructions on placement.

I have used these of three tanks and on two occasions they have come out of the gravel. I cannot comment on how good they are for plants as it is too early to tell yet

The plugs seem to cover quite a large surface area, especially compared to some other brands. They haven't affected my water quality at all- no algae blooms or swings in pH, nitrates or any other measurable parameter. Above all the plants seem to have grown very, very well and are flourishing even without any other additives. I usually use Tropica fertiliser but that has been hit or miss, so I think I'll stick to these substrate plugs as the growth seems sustained so far.
