The (unofficial) Hogwarts Haggadah

Lovely idea, woefully executed
I don't often write reviews but this one needs one. This is a regular hagaddah with some very tenuous Harry Potter paragraphs every few pages. Clearly the author likes Harry Potter but honestly this is really very poor.Disappointed - it's simply not worth the money. It will not keep the interest of a Potter fan and aside from reading aloud the occasional comment (to laugh at how bad it is)... I cannot see the point.Yes it's a colour hagaddah but other than that... it just seems a tad lazy

Good "different" Haggadah
This was a great Haggadah. Had the full service with interesting links and themes to Harry Potter. Also some interesting discussion points - e.g. Solving current day mnemonics, or if anyone could walk through the door with Elijah who would you want it to be etc. In parts a bit "Americanised" but a good teenage, or Harry Potter fan or just interesting Haggadah

More of a gimmick
Recipient loved it and all around the table were amused. Needs a specific type of person to enjoy and want. More of a gimmick

It was fun to have and definitely a conversation starter and the Seder, but I think for me it wasn't quite what I like in a Haggadah. I suspect it was a bit too religious for my leaning!

Poor value.
Tends to underdeliver on all fronts. The Harry Potter influence is poorly delivered and not particularly creative.

Fits into any seder!
A lovely addition to my seder! Ours is a rather large group, spanning 4 generations and going all the way down to third cousins. Everyone has a copy of a bare bones Haggadah, but some of us have our own. This one fits right in with those and I'll have no trouble following along with the traditional text! The sidebars, with the connection to the Harry Potter universe, are insightful and draw deep connections between the goings on at Hogwarts and the meaning we as Jews draw from the Passover story and traditions.

Love. Love
Love. Love. Love. I used this at the seders this year (2017) and the others at the table were thoroughly entertained by the bits of wisdom and trivia in the book :D Will definitely become a part of all future seders!

A complete Haggadah but without English transliteration.
This is a full Haggadah but there's no transliteration, just translation, so you won't be able to read it unless you can read Hebrew.

My 10 year old daughter loved it and it really helped to keep her engaged with the Seder.

Schlecht Buch, nicht für Kinder geeignet. Billions.
Ich habe es zurück gesanden. Kein originelle photos. Kauf mal nicht. Es gibt besser. Zu teuer. Nicht gut. Nein also.

Beautiful, heartfelt, and thought-provoking Haggadah
Got my copy and just started reading through it. First I have to say how utterly beautiful the book looks. Each page is in full color with clean and attractive illustrations and a great color scheme. I love seeing well-designed self-published books! The book contains all the text, in Hebrew and English, that you would expect to find in a haggadah, along with short bits of commentary relating each part of the seder to a concept in Harry Potter. I particularly enjoyed Rabbi Rosenberg's musings on goblins' ability to perform bittul hametz and the parallels between the four Hogwarts houses and the four children in the seder.Sprinkled throughout are also thought-provoking questions and some short answers provided by Rabbi Rosenberg's students--these are absolutely precious and alternately had me cracking up and pausing to dwell on some truly insightful answers. At the end of the haggadah are six complementary essays on topics important to both Harry Potter and the story of Passover, from "Slavery and Freedom" to "Empathy for Your Enemies." I can't wait to sit down and read these and discuss them with my friends.

I love the concept
I love the concept, and while there are a few stretches in the attempt to make a connection work, it is an excellent addition to my HP and Pesach collections! As a huge HP fan, and the leader of sedarim every other year, I highly recommend this. There are some formatting suggestions I'd make, and there were a few typos, but overall, I loved reading it. It's a full Hagaddah with HP insights between the standard service. This is not for casual readers or move watcher only; I believe true HP readers/fans would get the most out of it.

I may have loved it even more than my kids
The Hogwarts Haggadah was a hit at our second-night seder. I may have loved it even more than my kids. The essays and commentary are thoughtful and thought-provoking. None of it seemed forced. It honestly helped renew the holiday for me.We didn't get to every page that night, but I am leaving it out so I can read bits of it here and there post-Pesach. I think it's my new favorite-of-all-time Haggadah.

(Pesadik) Food for Thought, via Track 9 3/4
Surprisingly serious, halachically sound take on the Haggadah, from the expected "Harry Potter" perspective. Included some useful illustrations/input via questions posed to the writer's students (generally age 9-14). Definitely not appropriate for anyone younger than that. I don't think this should be your #1 go-to Hagaddah, running the whole evening's narrative, but it provides some interesting points for discussion and is well worth including. In fact, certain digressions might well engage an otherwise cynical or tuned-out teenager. If you have Potterphiles in your family, it's worth picking up a copy for next year's seder.

Not what expected
I thought it was going to be a haggadah that was more amusing and light, but it isn't and you have had to have read all the books to understand everything in it. Too serious and lengthy to use with elementary school age kids.

Wonderful Haggadah. I especially love the "Student Voices" sections that are strategically placed throughout the book. It is a clever and enjoyable way for parents to engage their children in conversation about life and what it means to be Jewish, which is ultimately what the Seder experience is all about.
