Pretty Easy Install, Nice looking Product, feels strong and safe
I always felt I need a little security under the hood of my Jeep from the first day I bought and this product delivers some extra security. Plenty of spare keys come with product, Installed it by myself in about an hour. Hardest part is getting the bolts in the fender by the headlight housings, I used a thin 1/4" ratchet and socket(size in instructions I forget). After installation and it's closed and locked it feels solid, definitely would solve any vibration problems you might have from old stock rubbers getting worn. Very pleased with this purchase.Update: After a year and a half of ownership, Rampage was still willing to answer some quick questions for me and helped me thru a personal issue with the product, even sent me a replacement part at no cost for something minor that came apart on me. (I lost a retaining clip on one of the pins inside the latch tinkering with it) This is a very nice company, with prompt service, that stands behind their products for the long run. I'm very impressed.

Improvements to the design
To start with this product is very well built and heavy duty, but I had some major issues and ended up returning the hood locks.First, I have installed a lot of stuff on this jeep and the problem was not because of my technical ability. Basically with the latch and hook on the jeep and the screws just snug so that I could still adjust them, I could not get the two pieces close enough to get the latch over the hook. When I really forced the hood I got it to go but as I closed the latch the front of the hood got forced together so tight it was metal to metal with hood deflecting out. Definitely not correct! Rampage needs more adjustment on their upper hook or do a proper tolerance study. I could have easily fixed this by putting them on the milling machine.Second, I noticed (as designed) that when the latch is put over the hook that the latch would hit the paint on the hood. Rampage could have extended the rubber pad that is mounted between the hook and the hood. By doing this it would have covered the area the latch hits and keep the paint from getting messed up and give a nicer user experience so that you do not the metal to metal hit everytime you close the latch. As it is, I could see that in a year the paint on the hood being all beat up where the latch hit constantly when flipping it over the hook. Was really hoping this would work as I needed a hood lock. Very disappointed as it looked like it would have been a very clean addition to the Jeep.

I was unable to install this. Directions are to put the bolt on the latch through the mounting hole and then attach the star washer and nut from behind the fender wall. I could not reach the bolt and attach the nut. I was able to get the washer and nut lined up with the hole, but there was not enough room for my fingers to turn the nut. I might have been successful if there was a way to turn the bolt into the nut, but no such luck. After trying different methods and routinely dropping the washer, nut, or both, I gave up and returned the latches. I did notice that the latch didn't have the two locating prongs on the back as my current latches do, and that allows the latch to move around.

Looks Good, Works Perfect
Like the other reviewers, I like this product but it could be better. I put these on a 2010 Wrangler, and there is so little room to get your fingers in to intall the nut and washer that I had to imrprovise. I superglued the star washer to the nut, there is no way one can put the washer and nut on without having fingers like ET. I even pulled the plastic rivets out and pulled down the grille to get a little more room. Have they ever heard of captive washer nuts? One of catches works good, but even using all the adjustment available, one catch has to be pulled open with mechanical assist. There is very little room at the bottom of the catch. It is good to have some modest security to keep the casual thief from ripping off your battery or worse.Update 05/05./13. After using these hood locks for a few months, they both open with just my fingers, so I retired my bent screwdriver as an opener.

have someone else install this
No doubt: this product is rock solid but installing was a pain in the rear end. Trying to access the nut underneath the fender was extremely hard to do. I had to remove the plastic tabs to move the grill forward to gain more room to work. After cussing a lot, I got both sides done. The passenger side was not aligned correctly so it seemed to be stuck in the lock position. I called the company for help but they were of no help. "I never heard of this." Another person, "You need to make a video in order to be covered by warranty." Instead, I took over to my local Jeep dealer. It took two mechanics to open up the passenger side latch. Now, both latches are working fine. I would give five stars for the product itself but one star for the installation aspect and the technician phone advise. Therefore, I gave a three star overall rating.
