A must for mums
So glad I found this ! As a busy mum with young children who hate the noise of the hoover and can never get anything done this is a no brainer. I bought this with the intention of being able to do a quick tidy up when the children are asleep without waking them or the downstairs neighbours and although not completely silent its very quiet, picks up a lot and the children think it's magic and always want to use it. Works much better on carpet than hard flooring but does still work well. Its very sturdy and can withstand being rammed into furniture by a toddler, free standing and slides under furniture too. I do wish there was a tool to clear the hair off the main brush though but that's the only downside really! I would recommend for those who want a quick, quiet, back and energy saving option to tidy up the floor in-between hoovering you'll be surprised how much it picks up!

Wow! Highly recommended
Wow! What a super little sweeper. Works well on rugs and carpet. Does work on laminate but not quite as affective. Bought for in our touring caravan, as lack of space for a vacuum, and am amazed at how much it picks up. Even dog hairs are easily swept away. I like the underside being metal as is more robust. Simple to empty into a bin. Took about 3 minutes to screw the handle parts together and was good to go. Considering one for home aswell for quick clear ups!

Great Lightweight Sweeper for Quick Cleanups
I recently purchased the BISSELL Sturdy Sweep Lightweight Sweeper for quick cleanups around the house, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for a no-fuss, lightweight tool that can tackle both carpet and hard floors, this sweeper is a great option.Pros:- Lightweight and Easy to Use: The BISSELL Sturdy Sweep is incredibly lightweight, which makes it easy to maneuver around the house. Whether I’m cleaning up a few crumbs in the kitchen or doing a quick sweep of the living room, this sweeper doesn’t feel heavy or cumbersome, even when using it for longer periods.- Effective on Multiple Surfaces: One of the standout features is its ability to clean both carpet and hard floors. The brushes do a great job of picking up dust, dirt, and small debris from area rugs, low-pile carpets, and smooth flooring. I’ve used it on my hardwood floors and carpeted areas, and it performs well on both surfaces. It picks up everything from pet hair to crumbs with ease.- Lay-Flat Design: The lay-flat design is perfect for getting under furniture or tight spaces without having to move everything out of the way. This is a major time-saver and makes cleaning much more efficient, especially in areas where a traditional vacuum can’t reach.- Quiet Operation: Unlike most vacuum cleaners, this sweeper operates quietly. It’s great for quick cleanups, especially if you need to clean up while children are napping or when you don’t want to disturb others in the house.- Durable and Low Maintenance: The sweeper feels sturdy and built to last, and it’s easy to maintain. The debris tray is simple to empty, and the brushes can be cleaned without much hassle.Cons:- Not Ideal for Deep Cleaning: While it does a great job with surface-level debris, it’s not a substitute for a vacuum when it comes to deep cleaning or removing deeply embedded dirt from carpets. If you need a thorough cleaning, especially for high-pile carpets, this sweeper won’t be able to do the job on its own.- Small Dustbin: The dustbin can fill up quickly, especially if you're cleaning larger areas or if you have pets. You’ll need to empty it more frequently compared to a vacuum with a larger canister.- Limited to Light Debris: While it works great for dust, crumbs, and pet hair, it might struggle a bit with larger debris like small pieces of paper or larger bits of dirt.Overall, the BISSELL Sturdy Sweep is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a lightweight, easy-to-use sweeper for quick daily cleanups on multiple surfaces. It’s perfect for smaller jobs, particularly on hard floors and low-pile carpets. While it may not replace a vacuum for deep cleaning, it’s a great addition to your cleaning routine, especially if you need something efficient and easy to handle. For the price and performance, it’s a solid 4.5/5 stars in my book.

Good
It's a good wee sweeper for rugs and carpets. It didn't work well on wooden floors.

Sweeper.
This is the second one I've bought over time and for some strange reason the second one didn't work as well as the first one i had because it doesn't pick up without spitting things straight back out.

Early Days But So Far So Impressed! 😉
Last year (2024) I had a beige/light brown carpet fitted in my living room/hallway, with which, I am very pleased.Unfortunately, it tends to show the "bits" that gather, via daily usage, quite quickly and easily. So, to avoid having to lug out my faithful Henry Hoover, 3/4 times a week, I was thinking of getting a smaller, hand held, or mini handled upright vacuum cleaner. But someone suggested it would just be as effective for the job to purchase a "carpet sweeper."Having grown up in the 60#s, I was aware of a number of people who used to use them regularly. So, having done some research, the Bissell Sturdy Sweep, kept popping up and (generally) achieving positive views. Therefore, I decided to take the plunge and buy one.As others have stated, it was a bit of a faff/fuss to put the handles together (especially with my shaky hands!) and I was worried about "cross threading," the separate parts. However, I eventually managed it and the resulting handle seems to be very tightly fitted and reliably sturdy.I immediately set to having a go on my "bitty" carpet and was very impressed with the results. It easily picked up all of the "bits" and left my carpet looking as pristine as if I'd used the hoover on it.The unit is small and compact, but seems to be perfect for its intended use.I've yet to try it on the lino, in the kitchen, where occasional spills of sugar/coffee etc, I suspect will be more of a problem, but I'll not find that out until there's some sort of "spillage" and I'm not going to create one, just to test my theory! 😉😉Quite a few reviewers have commented that, in their experience, the unit is flimsy and the handle even more so, but that's not been my experience. All, in all, I'd say that it's early days, but so far, I'm impressed. As things stand.I would recommend the Sturdy Sweep and at £20 it's much cheaper than electric options and without the added inconvenience of having to plug it in, or charge it!
