Don't buy anything with Android TV
Hardware is fast. Video and sound are good. That's the end of the positive review. Now the negative. Remote sucks which is well known. No option to power up the box by remote if the Droid setting is on sleep and the box has powered off over night. Android TV launcher is your typical bad launcher. I'm trying to find a decent launcher that works. Having my own recommended Youtube videos would have been awesome. Instead you get the crap they want you to see. Youtube for Android TV functionality is bad. Like button is hidden. You can't view partial screen, other recommended videos, or easily watch comments while watching a video. I'm trying to find a different apk that will work. And the best for last. Google Playstore is an absolute joke in this version. There's maybe 100 apps. Yes, you heard that right, not 100,000+, 100. And all the apps are crap. You want Google Chrome. Nope. Instead you have the option of PuffinTV which is wretched. ES file sharer? LOL. The Playstore layout is also horrible. Even if you find an app on the Playstore website, it won't allow you to install as it's "not compatible" even though side loading works fine. So, in a nutshell, avoid Android TV like the plague as it's extremely restrictive. If I'm not successful in side loading my apps, I'll return it for a slower older box with base android and no Android TV. An additional complaint, after the box goes to sleep it loses ethernet connection. The only resolution is to reboot.

Very nice Android streaming box
I’ve had a few Android TV boxes over the years. Since I “cut the cord” and ditched cable TV, I use these boxes literally every day. Two have been Asian boxes (Goo Bang Do), one was a US-made box (Matricom), and the Beelink A1 Android TV box is my third. The Beelink box is an Asian box. One feature I like is a box that supports OTA (Over The Air) updates. Our older Asian boxes have an app to do OTA updates, but the app has never worked. I had to do firmware upgrades manually, which is a huge pain. The Matricom box does support OTA updates, but recently checking for updates throws an error, so that box no longer updates properly. The Beelink A1 supports OTA updates, and it works. The Beelink A1 is a surprisingly small box that fits well in almost any installation. The box contains a digital clock on its face, which is a nice feature. The clock is equally small, so if you plan to place it across the room, you might have to squint to see the time. The clock is a nice feature, and its size is appropriate for the dimensions of the box.Setup was easy, especially since it was replacing one of our other boxes (cabling was already there). With my installation, I just plugged in my Ethernet cable, the television HDMI cable, and connected power. If you have wireless, the GUI will prompt for the wireless credentials during installation. I have a secondary handheld remote keyboard that functions through a USB receiver inserted on the back of the box, so I connected that also. One thing about this box that I really like is the remote sensitivity. While we use a handheld keyboard remote, we also tried the remote supplied with the Beelink. We sit about fifteen feet from the box installation, and our two other boxes didn’t communicate well with their supplied remotes. The Beelink remote functions perfectly well even at this distance. The remote is a higher quality than either of our previous boxes. After connecting the box and booting up, the GUI walked me through very simple setup screens. The box detected that a software upgrade was available, and it easily went through the upgrade process and booted back into the GUI without incident. The following day, it detected another update and installed it perfectly. I was quite pleased to see this. The GUI is very easy to understand. There is one app that contains a variety of apps that won’t show in the Google Playstore. I installed YouTube and Netflix from within the Beelink GUI. The Beelink is a rooted Android device, so some apps won’t display in the Playstore. Beelink provides these apps in the GUI. They work fine. The feel of the Beelink is excellent. It’s fast and responsive. I use a proprietary Kodi build for streamed content (Jeremy Paris’s Gorilla Build), and some of the choices in this build result in buffering before content is displayed. The Beelink box has a noticeably shorter time buffering. It also streams 4K content through a pay service I configured in the Kodi build. Neither of my other boxes would play 4K content. The Beelink plays them fast and efficiently, which was a real big plus for me. The image quality is excellent! I’ve run the box for about a week now and have noticed no crashing or streaming issues. Everything appears to be operating well.I won’t say anything about the technical specifications of the A1 box. This has been documented thoroughly elsewhere. But I will say that I’m impressed with the box. If you’re new to these boxes, I’d suggest spending a little more and getting higher memory and decide how much storage you think you’ll need. This box is ideal for me because it has 4 GB of memory and 16 GB of storage. It supports increased external storage, but I don’t really need that. I use pretty much only Netflix, YouTube, and the Kodi Gorilla build. So 16 GB is more than enough for my use.The more important specification to look for in these boxes is available memory. The cheaper boxes will have 1 GB. Some are 2 GB. I’d strongly impress anyone considering these boxes to go with the higher memory GB. The 4 GB A1 box has a respectable amount of memory. The other thing to look for is the Android version. At the time of this writing, the Beelink has the most current Android version. So you can’t go wrong with this box. With all this said, I definitely recommend this Android TV box. It’s a decent purchase for the money.

TOO SLOW
I got too tired trying to get this box to work right. It gets very hot it freezes up and wont do anything. I either turn it off or unplug it to start working again. Getting any movies to play is another problem. It is very slow. Most of the time I would turn off kodi and go to terrarium. I would not recommend this box.

Don't let it update software
I finally let it do the software update it kept nagging me about and it's stuck in a boot loop. I'll look for a different brand next purchase.
