Shedding some light.
I chose this light after weighing up the pros and cons from other reviews. I needed something brighter than my existing 80 lumen CATEYE model. Cost was also a factor as was build quality. The metal body, and more focused beam of light were the deciding points over the brighter Volt 400 model which spreads light over a wider field of view. (I thought that such a wide angle might dazzle oncoming traffic more than the narrower beam).. Ordered on a Friday night with a free delivery option I was expecting arrival by the following Thursday.. I was pleasantly surprised as it was delivered by 9:30 am on the Sunday only 2 days after ordering. Great postal service.. As for the light.. it is really well built and the brightest light I've owned so far. I am very pleased with my purchase. The fixing bracket fits into my handlebar like a strong zip-tie and is removable should you wish to do so. The light once clipped into place is sturdy enough to stay put at the angle you choose. The release clip is small as stated in other reviews and does require a glove free hand to remove the light when you need to take it off the mounting bracket. Also in the box was a very handy helmet mount bracket and a small usb charge cable.

what can I see. superb battery life (Will do five evening rides). the three brightness modes allow you to balance battery usage and light conditions well whilst the flashing mode ensures that you are seen in the day time. the brightness is more than good enough for riding in the dark providing a wide beam is not necessary, so road use only really! mounting onto the handle bars is simple and the usb charger very versatile. I would happily recommend

I bought this in time for the winter as I wanted a good quality light that made me visible to dozy road users when the nights draw in.This is a well made light which is bright enough to illuminate the road ahead as well as making you visible to other users. It's well made and is secured using the excellent Cateye mount. The light is quite light for the power so you can unclip it and put in your pocket if you want to keep it safe when leaving the bicycle.Charging is via micro usb so easy to do at work from my PC.Overall can't think of a better front light for commuting and well priced as well.

USB charged bike light
It's a great quality bright light and the USB charging is great. However, I'd recommend that you have an extra light on stand-by as the light either works or it doesn't work once the battery level has dropped. It doesn't get dim, it just stops working. You could find yourself without any light if you are about to set off at night. It took me while to find the quick flashing mode as it is set differently to the other light modes.

Very bright and robust
This little light far exceeds my expectations. I used it last night whilst cycling a poor road surface on an unlit section of a lochside road in the West of Scotland. A section of this is through an area of steep wooded cliffs one side and just the dark surface of the water the other. I was able to ride at my usual speed (15-20mph) with complete confidence. I couldn't say how far ahead the road was lit up because of thebends but I could always see the next corner and the uneven and potholed sections of road in plenty of time.I also discovered how robust it is: I hadn't fully clipped it in to the bracket (my fault, as done correctly it is very secure) so it fell off and bounced along the road. When I slowed to go back for it I thought it ironic that just at that moment a car was coming up behind me and may run over my light. There was no car, it was the light. I'm very impressed.

Much better than the led headlight my bike came equipped with
True quality product, cannot fault it. I cycle every day in winter several kilometres through a totally dark wood, on unpaved tracks, and this light made all the difference. Much better than the led headlight my bike came equipped with. Not cheap but worth all the money. I have previously bought cheaper led lights, about a third of the price of the Cateye Volt 300, and my conclusion is that the Cateye is not 3, but many more times better. I now consider the cheaper ones a waste of money. 300 lumens is right for me, enough to see well even when not in full power mode, preferable over the more powerful lights other cyclists use that make them look like a lorry is approaching and dazzle everyone. Excellent battery, lasts more than a cheaper light with 3 or 4 AAA batteries producing less power. Came with a strap to attach it to the helmet, which gives you more control on where to look, and you need not worry about someone stealing it from your bike. Perfect for me, highly recommended.

Excellent, no complaints at all.
This is a good quality light that performs in line with the specs. I use it for dark main roads, where the flashing function allows you to be noticed and on dark country lanes where I need to see the potholes. The lamp is powerful enough for this fairly demanding purpose (though I wouldn't want any less power) and gives out an amazing amount of light for something so small. It would not be powerful enough for someone riding fast through woods though. As for the battery life, I reckon the full power will last 3 hours and the button glows red when it needs recharging. On flashing function it will last at least twice as long. I have used it in pouring rain and there was no problem. It was very easy to fit and is easily removed from the bracket. It is also small enough to fit in your pocket for walks. All in all, I think this is a great bit of kit.
