JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker - Black

I purchased this product roughly 2 moths ago because I broke my previous Bose Soundlink 3, Comparing the JBL speaker with the one that I used for 2 years, I must say that it is a very solid and powerful device with and unexpected quality in the sound and in the materials. Below the pro and cons that I found in the speaker. PROS: 1) Waterproof resistance : All the speaker it is covered with a beautiful waterproof material that actually keep the speaker safe from any splashes! ( Of course it is not built to reproduce music underwater then do not go inside a swimming pool with it. 2)The Sound: The STEREO sound achieved with this speaker it is definitely within the ones with most quality ever for all the kind of music, indeed thanks to its two speakers in the sides (really 20w for each one ) it manage to have a very warm sound with many basses. Thus I would recommend it especially if you love : Jazz, Fusion jazz, Relaxing music, Hip hop, Rap,Trap music,House, and so on.. 3)The Battery: The Battery duration declared by the company it is 15 hours; I am not totally sure if they are seriously 15 because I never had the occasion to leave the speaker turned on for 15 hours, but definitely the duration it is mental! I used it watching films and playing music without charging it for an entire week, thus I am sure that the 15 h declared are pretty much real. 4) The Volume: If you love turn the volume up and dance this speaker it is perfect for you, indeed the amount of volume that it has it is mental compared to its dimensions.To notice that even with high volume the sound keep going to be clear and with quality, thus no noises or other unpleasant "surprises" during the reproduction. 5)Multifunction: Thanks to its 2 USB ports in the back it can be used as a charger for any other devices as ( Phones,Ipods and so on) 6)It can be connected to other JBL devices: If you have for instance a JBL 3 it is possible to connect it both (the Xtreme and the 3) and make them play togeter like a surround speaker. CONS: 1) THE WEIGHT: Of course the speaker comes with a resistant shoulder strap and it is totally manageable to carry anywhere, however with its 2 kg of weight compared to the other ones in the market maybe it could be not the most light. 2)THE CONNECTIVITY: The speaker has a bluethoot connection that in my opinion I did not found between the best when I tried to connect my Mac since I have been forced to disconnect my iPhone before to connect the Mac, but finally it is not been a big deal because once it is connected the line it is definitely awesome in terms of quality. 3)THE TWITTERS: If you are a real purist of the sound like me you will note that there is not very much the presence of the sound produced by a twitters (high). Thus maybe if you are looking for the perfect sound in playing rock music it might be not the perfect one but personally i tried with heavy metal and hard rock and It worked great anyway!! Compared to my previous Bose that I had for 2 years I would recommend the JBL one in terms of sound and price (since it is cheaper and with a much more performant sound). This speaker deserve one round of applause. Ok I was lucky and I've found this beast with a great discount on amazon and after 1 day the offer was gone. My only regret is that I didn't get 2 of them. Still even at full price I don't know of any other options this good, ***at least for the use I wanted.*** In fact, as often happens with technology, there is not something like "the best product", but the better choice for a specific need. My goal with this speaker was to have a portable enough solution to enjoy Salsa and Bachata music outdoor with friends of the dancing class. Since we are talking about social dancing it's very important to have a clear sound, good and strong base and decent loudness. This speaker delivers all of it in a compact enough size (I can put it in my backpack with no problems) and with a good battery that gives me more than 5h at full volume (it's a pity It cannot be changed, I know that It won't last forever). People with other need might find better deals with other products, for example: - If I was ready to sacrifice volume and base for portability and greater battery I would have chose the minirig. (the 2.1 set is probably the best portable solution money can buy, but way too expensive) - If I was ready to sacrifice volume and boosted base for 360° more hi fi sound and a better battery I would have chosen the Fugoo XL (similar price) - If I wanted to sacrifice a bit of portability, volume and splashproof design for a replaceable battery (It would increace the life of the speaker a lot) I would have chosen the teufel boomster, similar price. But for the price I paid and my needs, this speaker made my smile every time I used it. I like the fact that if I need more volume I can alway buy another one in the future and use it in stereo mode.

Having tested this speaker side by side with my brother's Bose Soundlink 3 I can honesty say that the Xtreme blows the Bose out of the water! It is superior in terms of loudness and the bass is on another level. I previously thought the bass of the Bose was great but the bass on this one is even better! Sound quality between the two is about the same but the Xtreme has the added bonus of being splash proof so it's great for picnic or trips out on your bicycle. The one downside I have noticed is an issue some professional reviewers have mentioned, and that is a minor problem where the 1st second of a song is cut off. Nothing like this happens with the Bose so I'm not sure what the problem is and an update failed to resolve the issue. If you can look past that minor flaw then this is probably one the best portable speakers on the market! Highly recommended!

The greatest thing in my opinion is that it CAN be portable, however is perfect for the house too. The bass range is more than enough for the size and the volume...oh the volume. It's amazing how loud you can get this thing with no loss of quality. I tried my best to make this distort (everything turned up to 11) and nothing. No clipping or distorting whatsoever. From now on, this will be my go to speaker for every outing/trip I take. Not only that, it'll be the speaker I use when in the kitchen and the bath. With that fact that it's waterproof, I no longer worry about any condensation ruining a speaker I'm using in the bathroom. Obviously submerging this speaker would likely kill it, if not drastically harm it, but who in their right mind wants a speaker underwater? All in all, a great portable speaker and with the ability to wirelessly pair 2 of these together, it could very well be my new home system. I also hooked it up to my TV to see how it did. Just. WOW! Not as flash as Bose or Sonos but if you want sheer oomph and sound quality paired with being waterproof and portable, this is the wireless speaker for you. Don’t be fooled by the pics as this is quite a beast and the sound is amazing. Can be linked to other JBL devices in sync to increase the overall experience but isn’t quite up to the tech functionality of the Bose Soundlink etc. If you want to belt out music on the go, at a party, on the beech, in your garden or just something decent sounding that’s easily moved about house, the JBL extreme is perfect. Specs wise it’s a bit heavy but this is why it sounds so good. Battery life at average volume is about 10 hours. Charges up very quickly indeed.

Since the day I watched reviews on YouTube with sound tests & comparisons of the JBL Xtreme compared to other portable higher end bluetooth speakers this thing had my attention. Now don't get me wrong for the audio connoisseur clarity & refinement seem to be king. And yes I love clarity too but not without bass. Bass gives everything a type of completion that is a must for anything audio that I (for the most part) purchase & this thing does exactly what I wanted it for. The bonus usb battery charger, aux in, waterproofing, JBL Connect & quality of the Xtreme just make it that more appealing. And the power cable & universal adapter are a real nice touch. I used mine so far with my: PS Vita ✔ Samsung Galaxy Note 3 ✔ Samsung Galaxy Note 4 ✔ ...and wow, just wow!!! So to me it's just a must. The only thing I don't like is that the batteries aren't easily removed incase of degrading. But if you go on YouTube there's even ways around that. So all in all it's the business, just as much as my JBL Charge 3's are too. And the second the price drops I'll be picking up another JBL Xtreme to complete my collection.

We run a lot of VW camps & outdoor events. We use these for some of the smaller club events, BBQ's & partys etc, brilliant bit of kit. I saw one for sale in the blue colour I wanted for £164. So i went ahead to purchase, at checkout I noticed that i had been given quite a large discount, I assumed it was a Black Friday saving, little did I know that I had bought a used or new item with defects. When it arrived, it did not have the original packaging, although 1 power cable was present but with a 2 pin European plug. We bought an adapter & thought we would make do with the speaker as it was cheap, but on the second time we used the speaker the battery indicator went from 5 lights to 4 then 3 then 2 within about 15 minutes, finally died after about 20 minutes use, supposed to last about 15 hours. We ended up returning the speaker for a refund & put the extra money to it for a brand new one from a large UK electronics retailer.

It's JBL. It does the job and the build quality is high value UPDATE: Four years later, I've been trying to get rid of it for some time now. My use case is not really outdoor parties and boombox. I just needed a versatile speaker I can use in my room and outdoor when needed. It has a really painful behaviour where you can't keep it at a descend volume and the volume just keeps cutting from time to time unless you push the volume. Which is not what I need when working late and just need some relaxing backroung sound. Bluetooth connection quality has degraded overtime. It's a pain.

Chegou, perfeito, muito bom

Aunque solo llevo un dia con el he de decir que la experiencia es muy positiva. Estuve entre este JBL y el Marshall Kilburn, quizas el Marshall esta un poquito por encima en cuanto a un sonido más limpio, muy poco, casi inapreciable pero este JBL en cuanto a bajos deja en ridículo a cualquier otro, al menos por el momento. Puntos a favor en cuanto al Marshall, bajos, calidad de audio a la par, aunque he de reconocer que si la musica que escuchais es algo más "contemporanea" (rock, jazz, clasica...) puede que el Marshall, en las diferentes frecuencias de sonido (agudos, graves, medios) está más logrado (poquisimo respecto al JBL) porque puntua muy bién en todo pero tampoco es que despunte en nada, digamos que es el más "redondo" pero cuando pinchas musica más discotequera, moderna, etc, este JBL es IMPRESIONANTE. Posee unos bajos muy buenos, yo me he quedado alucinado con la potencia de volumen que alcanza sin distorsionar. También he de decir que este tipo de altavoces, son lo que son, es decir, no sirven para sustituir a ningun equipo HI-FI de calidad con unos altavoces de verdad. Yo cuando quiero escuchar musica con sonido de primerisima calidad, la escucho en el equipo, tienes control directo sobre todas las frecuencias con el ecualizador y si tienes unos buenos altavoces estereo pues no hay comparación. Estos JBL son para ir con la música a cualquier parte dando muy buena calidad y es bastante cómodo de transportar. Es uno de los modelos de JBL más grandes pero aún así es super cómodo de llevar a cualquier parte. Este es otro punto a favor de este altavoz por lo que me decidí en contra del Marshall. El Marshall (Kilburn) aunque no es el modelo más grande de la marca, es transportable, pero al tener unas formas cuadradas creo que tiene que ser un poco engorroso llevarlo de un lado para otro, me da la sensación, que siendo unos altavoces con un sonido excelente, por su diseño y estetica, son perfectos para dejar quietos en un lugar. Los JBL los puedes llevar a cualquier sitio, hay fundas diseñadas especialmente para sus diferentes modelos. Además, coge sin ningún problema en la maleta si te vas de viajes y te lo quieres llevar. Una cosa de deciros, el aparato lleva conexión bluetooth, jack, cable de alimentación y dos conexiones USB. Estas dos conexiones USB, SOLO sirven para cargar dispositivos como móvil, tablet, etc, NO SIRVE PARA REPRODUCIR MUSICA. Es algo que JBL se lo podria haber currado pero en fin, con la calidad que da, yo me siento más que satisfecho.

Cette enceinte est tellement simple d'utilisation. On la débale et elle est prête ! le son est vraiment très bon, de belles bass comme j'aime. J'avais l'habitude d'écouter ma musique sur un home cinema à 5 enceintes, j'avais un son incomparable, mais je dois dire que la JBL Xtreme s'en approche assez bien surtout dès qu'on augmente le son. La diffusion est très bonne et bien répartie dans une pièce de 30m2. Elle reconnait le blue tooth très vite et semble avoir une très grande autonomie. Je n'écoute certes pas de musique tous les jours, mais elle est pour le moment encore sur la charge usine ! le seul petit bémol est qu'en effet l'accès aux branchements et port USB n'est pas très facile avec le petit zip à l'arrière, mais je ne m'en servirais que très peu au final. Je ne suis vraiment pas déçue du produit. J'avais hésité avec la JBL Charge 3, mais ayant entendu le son de la Xtreme, j'ai préféré investir un peu plus, mais avoir le son que je recherchais.

Build Quality: ============== 1) Excellent built quality. Rugged and strong. 2) Has a strong mesh made of nylon-like material around it. 3) Delight for people who dance during bath. Splashproof, no worries of water or shower anymore. 4) The rubberized diaphragm like structures on either side vibrate and resonate with bass. These diaphragms look strong but be careful, these can be damaged by a pointed object. Look and Feel: ============== 1) Felt Around 2.1 Kg, heavier than most bluetooth speakers. 2) Portable even though it is heavy. Slightly larger than a 1 litre bottle of Bisleri mineral water. See pictures. Sound Quality: ============== 1) Stereo and Surround: Stereo and Surround is average, nothing that stands out. 2) Highs: It felt as if there are mini tweeters also inside producing sharper highs. 3) Mids: Mids were perfectly fine, standing out sometimes. 4) Bass: This is where it rocks. Bass is excellent. The thing with bass is that you have to find a sweet spot in your room where your speakers would sit so as to experience the best bass. Try and find out the best place for your room. In general, wooden housings amplify bass sounds. Bass is heard and felt stronger when these speakers are kept at a suitable place, around 7-8 mts away. Even without cranking up bass, it produces superb bass but when I cranked up the bass using equalizer, wow!!! it produces exceptional bassy sounds without sacrificing mids and highs. Forget distortion. Bass response was superb. Made my couch vibrate with bass. Comparison: =========== Although comparing it against Bose Soundlink mini is not fair considering the size differences, i stil did it against a Bose Soundlink Mini from a friend of mine. There is no comparison of bass between the two. JBL Xtreme blows away Soudlink in bass and sound output. Compared it with the new SONY SRS-xb3, but again JBL rocks in bass. Sony is also good with the extra bass mode but not as powerful as JBL. Srs xb-3 distorts and struggles at high volume. JBL's bass sounds very powerful and blissful :-) Accessories: ============ 1) A belt or a strap is provided to carry these speakers around. 2) Charging Adapter. In short, if you are a bass lover and need a portable bluetooth speaker, go for it!!! BookMyTech is excellent seller. I got these genuine JBLs at slightly lower than store price.
