Pair of MC4 compatible T-branch cable connectors for solar panels and PV systems

The pair of MC4 T-branch cable connectors were spot on and i used them to connect two solar panels together to charge batteries for a heater in my greenhouse.

Generally fine connectors. However, only 3 stars because the female sides are different from any female MC4 connectors I've used before. The tabs which lock a male connector into a female connector are covered over by a plastic strip (part of the female connector), once mated. These are not shown in the photographs so were a surprise. This makes them very hard to undo once the male and female are mated. Great for single use applications but not great if you think you may need to disconnect them and reconnect, which I do at the moment. I've done a little reading online and there are tools to help disconnect but apparently they are not very effective and people have resorted to making their own. I've tried cutting the tabs off one of them but it doesn't look great and I am nervous of making the connectors unuseable. I have a similar pair of connectors I bought a year ago (without the tabs) and these still work just fine despite numerous reconnections. Sadly I now need two pairs.....

I used these to bridge two solar panels into two cables. I had two positive and two negative cables coming from my two solar panels. i only wanted one positive and one negative to connect to my solar control panel. I bought two of these to do the job. You have to pay attention and put some tape or mark the cables somehow so you know which one is which. If you plan to do the same as me then you need to buy two sets of MC4 cable connectors. This is why you need to mark the cables as you ignore the red positive marks on the connectors and put a negative plug onto the positive plug. It is pretty simple to do. They have been in operation now for around 9 months and work fine.

Well made connectors with everything required to make up a set of solar leads. Time will tell but these appear robust, they're also a nice tight fit, suggesting that the seals are doing their job. This can make them a little difficult to remove, but peace of mind that they wont let the water in. All in all I'd recommend them, especially given the price.
