This book is awesome. I have recently (a year or two ago) became the DM for our group as out main DM had other obligations to attend to more often. I LOVE being a DM, but sometimes (usually) I get mental blocks when trying to come up with ideas about some things. These books are great for that. The one book I can just roll and get a random options, and the other gives me some ideas about adventures. I need to get some of the others too.

I rarely buy things purely on impulse, but the "Astonishing Random Tables" title caught my eye. It looked fun, so into the cart it went.I'm pleased to say that it's full of creative ideas to make a campaign more fun. I run a game, and a problem I've had is that so many adventures seem like they just railroad the players through a linear path from the beginning to the end. Having a ready-made book full of everything from minor details to major side quests is incredibly helpful, because it keeps the adventure from seeming like all the other "whatever was in the book and what our same DM ad-libbed" sessions. I'm busy, I'm often tired by the time we get to game night, and the ideas in this book are really helpful.This is the best addition to my gaming library since my book of pre-made NPCs. As uncreative as that sounds, my players and I recently had a six-week side quest based around a half-page description of an NPC - and that's exactly the sort of thing that I expect to be able to do with "The Game Master's Book of Astonishing Random Tables."

Love these books.full of ideas and totally worth their money.ever since buying the first I've wanted to buy them all and haven't been disappointed by any of them yet.

I picked up this book as I love random tables. The DM's toolbox has a lot that this book overlaps, but unlike that book, this one actually goes in to detail on the tables and the results are a lot less generic. That is both a good and a bad though... As things like "Chase complications" have 20 results that are all very specific... and if in an extended chase it will become "how many times have I almost hit a wagon and had a horse kick me?". Overall though lots of useful tables. I can foresee using it when my players throw a wrench in my plans and go off script. The book has ideas on how to use it for planning sessions too, but I think the off script part is where I will get the most use.

I've purchased quite a few random table type books. This book as beautiful presentation and the quality is very good. The content itself is moderately okay. There are plenty of other random table books much better than this one. Please don't hear what I'm not saying, this book is okay. It is simply that, okay. There are much better resources out there. This book does have great options for nation and government building.

This book is great! It is jam packed with all sorts of nifty stuff. Inside are many things to add some flavor to your game. For example; you are trapped in a horrible room by the high demon of the 5th floor. The clock of doom ticks. You must find the password to open the door. In the center of the room, an ornate tome rests upon an alter. The answer must be in it. .... You open it. It is a signed copy of Dr. Fluffytail's guide to cooking asparagus. tick tock, tick tock, tick tockWhether you are a seasoned veteran DM, or a first timer DM, you should get this book.

The book is hardcover, and very good quality binding. The paper is suitable quality and the print is fantastic. Amazing artwork and the utility that this book provides is just amazing! As a new DM this is a "Get out of jail free card".
