Absolutely amazing!
We brought an adorable puppy at 12 weeks old being told he was a Springer cross Cocker Spaniel- which legitimately he could have been with his long ears and mental behaviour. As he has grown over the past months (he is 11 months now) his legs got so long, his chest deep and waist slim, with a long feathered tail & backs of his legs and he grew in to his ears we realised this very fast and independent dog wasnt all he was made out to be!After many speculations and guesses, I needed to know what was in this lovely animals genes- so that I could understand his behaviour and better tailor the training I was doing to play to his natural instincts. The test arrived the following day, and was easy to complete- a quick swab in the cheeks- the dog thought it was a game at first but other than that it was simple. Popped it in the post and eagerly watched the online tracker to see what was happening. As the return address was in the UK I was surprised when it was over a week and still showed as 'not received'. I contacted the organisation who promptly explained that the sample was sent on to a lab in USA. A few days later it arrived- although after that the status didnt change again until the day I was emailed the results.I was so impressed with the level of detail in the report- it tracked our dogs genes back to his great grandparents. Each breed found has a fact sheet which explains the history of the breed, and statistics. It comes with a family tree and certificate! So, what is he? 50% English Springer Spaniel (all of his great and grand parents on one side) but the other 50% wasn't Cocker! He is 25% grey hound and 20% mixed breed. The test wasn't able to work out what the 'mixed breed' part was because it was too diluted but gave indications of what he is likely to be. I'd disagree with most of the suggested breeds- (Giant Schnauzer or Great Pyrenees for example!) maybe present in his DNA but not displayed in his appearance or behaviour- but Saluki is on there which is what I'd say was very likely.Anyway, in summary- definitely do it if you want to know about the unknown dog in your life's history. It'll satisfy curiosity if nothing else!!

Great product
I bought this product as we had just adopted a rescue dog that the RSPCA knew very little about, apart that he was a Mastiff cross. We were really curious to know more about our new friend, so I researched dog DNA kits & the consensus seemed to be that Wisdom produced kits that were excellent, user-friendly and, most importantly, accurate - having been purchased & reviewed many times. I was not disappointed, as a bonus Amazon had them really well priced too.The process of taking the samples is easy & clearly explained. Packaging & a postage label is also included to return sample to lab, it then takes around 3 weeks for the results which are sent by email. The results were really accurate and it's fascinating to see his ancestry. In the report is also a selection of their relatives (from other DNA results the lab has processed). There is also a health report advising you of any conditions linked to the identified breeds, plus a projection of their weight when fully grown.I definitely recommend this product should you wish to find out about you dog's genetic make-up

Genuine Testing
I had a lot of scepticism from ppl about doing my 2 dogs DNA, seen comments online about sending human sample and it coming back as collie cross etc. Well maybe it was with other cheaper brand/companies. As my girls results were spot on, made so much sense to their traits as well. I didnt send any photos ( you have a choice). Kept informed of progress, so easy to do. And so much info. Have added photos after receiving results as you even get info on family relatives . There are other companies bit cheaper, but maybe thats where bad reviews have arisen from. All in all i think Wisdom Panel is value for money.

Happy with the result..
The dog I had tested was a rescue 'Honey' (found wandering the streets).. so no idea of her breeding at all, so I had her done out of interest, I guessed Lhasa apso or perhaps dachshund x... as she long, little legs, golden blonde scruffy coat, and floppy ears.. (still only a pup yet)I was very careful I did not contaminate the swabs she she does lick my other dogs mouth, so the swabs were taken first thing in the morning, before she had eaten, drank or licked anything (I crate her overnight, so this made it easy)..It did take a long time for the swabs to register that they were at the lab, as they are sent off to the USA, this took about 10 days.. (hence the 4 stars as they dont tell you this) though I did email them and did get a prompt reply..The results came back that she is infact a mix of.. Westie, Lab, and Alaskan Malamute..I didnt see westie in her at all, but a friend that has Westies does, and said she guessed that when I first got her, though I did think there was terrier in her..Labrador... she does have the floppy ears, thick tail and coat colour and the intelligenceMalamute.. now I know where that funny woo-woo-woo barky howl comes from..Wisdom did tell me that they might not pick anything up as Im in Spain, and 'for example' a Lab born in the UK can have different DNA to one born in Spain... so perhaps thats why the grandparents on one side could not be recongnised.. though there were traces of Schnauzer and Yorkie in her..So overall, Im impressed, I would recommend having it done if you want to know what your dog is.. and for me it was just a bit of fun....
