Better than expected.
Originally I wanted an Alpine iLX-007 but when the SPH-DA120 was on special on Amazon I decided to purchase this unit and have not regretted it, later on I purchased a second hand iLX-007 for my wife’s car. After using both units I prefer the Pioneer. Here are the Pioneers benefits over the Alpine. The Pioneer uses standard lines for the reverse camera view, the Alpines uses cones for the reverse camera view, these are not only cheesy looking, they are confusing to use as a guide while reversing.Pioneer has Bluetooth, originally I thought this was not a big deal as you could plug in the iPhone but if you’re not using the navigation the Bluetooth connection provides most of the features required in a car, you can even use Siri with Bluetooth to make calls and select your music. The Pioneer is feature rich with many more options than the Alpine. The Pioneers screen is smaller than the Alpine but I don’t watch media on it, so for me the larger screen would not make any difference, you can customise the Pioneers button illumination colours to match your dash board which is nice feature, the Alpine buttons are illuminated white only. With Bluetooth and the extra functionality, the Pioneer is very versatile, the Alpine is a one-trick pony. If you’re deciding on which unit to buy, go for the Pioneer, you won’t be disappointed.

The Business...
This is such an amazing unit, and having had it for 2 months I can't fault it one bit. It went into a Golf like it was from factory. One thing I wanted to know when I was researching on what unit to buy is if I could use Waze on the phone, while playing music (I didn't want to be stuck using Apple Maps when using iTunes) I can confirm you can and it all works well (Waze is not on the unit yet and as its Google owned probably never will).Last thing it also made the speakers sound so much better.10/10

Great!
Definitely worth the money. I decided to treat myself after having a very unpleasant weekend. I was also sick of using my fm transmitter for music. Bought adapters and a bezel for it to nicely fit my car and fitted it myself and it is brilliant. There really isn't anything you can't do with it. Car play works very well looks really cool. Problems that have occurred are, it looks a lot like a mounted tablet and I fear that it could attract thieves. Also, the spotify implementation is a tad buggy. Useable, and very good, but buggy. If you have £300 lying around, or don't (like me) then I would definitely say it's worth getting.

Good radio, but check if it is compatible to your car before you buy!
To start off the radio came next day, really safe, and well packaged, at first unboxing the radio I was very impressed! It took a wile to at into my car as I had to remake a harness adapter to make it work in my car, but now I have it all wired up it works fine! The mic sound good on the other end and the Apple maps works well. The radio looks really professional in my car (vw polo) I couldn't really believe I fitted it as easy as I did, the one issue I had was with the handbrake cable, this tells the radio when the handbrake it on so that you can't use some settings on the radio when driving, but if your like me and couldn't get to the handbrake wire you can just clip it on to the earth (black wire) and it will just tell that radio that the handbrake is always onAll in all the radio works really well it has made my stock speakers sound even betterPersonally I think it is worth the money and will recommend to friends

good sound quality
i bought this unit and wow, I am very impressed with it, good sound quality, good display, plant settings and options, very good for the price. I am using my iPhone 6s+, a match made for true music lovers, combined this withTS-W3002D2|D412" Champion Series PRO Subwoofer with 3500 Watts Max, and Pioneer GM-D9601 2400W Mono Class D Car Amplifier with Bass Boost Remote, lovely combination, would definitely buy again

Great unit mostly until it stops working as intended.
Great unit mostly, Constantly asks for phone Bluetooth when turn on tho which is really annoying and Carplay only worked for a month then stopped, not sure if it is due to an update on my phone or if the unit software needs updating - the cable works fine as music still woks normally just nothing through Carplay, had hoped for something more reliable that just works.Update Feb 2018 Never got the car play to work and now it will not connect via Blutooth, Some to the Fitters and told they have had nothing but problems with this unit and will not stock it. Very disappointed as mine is out of warranty now and stuck with it.

but I was persuaded by the other good reviews. The radio is really good
I pondered over buying this for a while, but I was persuaded by the other good reviews. The radio is really good. I only really use the CarPlay side as all I use in the car is Spotify and maps, and I'm really impressed by the interface, it's just so easy to use. Routing the wires in was a bit of a pain, but this would have been the same for any radio. The hands free element of the CarPlay is most impressive. Siri has never really been able to understand me (I'm from NE England), but that problem seems to have vanished. Asking to phone a contact in my phone book has never been misunderstood, neither has the help with navigation. One thing that did impress that wasn't really mentioned in other reviews or in the pioneer spec was how the bluetooth audio worked. CarPlay is fine if you're travelling some distance, but if you're only travelling around the doors and leave your phone in your pocket then this feature clearly isn't possible, however if you have already been listening to Spotify on your phone (ie it still shows on your locked screen but is paused) then you can still play this through the BT audio. You can only skip tracks though? You can't navigate the playlists etc, but you can do this from the head unit without having to do anything on your iPhone, which I found pretty convenient. If you have steering wheel controls, then the canbus adapters will set you back another £65-70, but are very much worth it. All in all I'm very pleased with this unit, and would definitely recommend!
