An overlooked gem for the PSX
I got this during summer vacation w/my work money from filming soccer games at High School.Oh yeah, on with the review:Graphics: Old-school 16-bit for an RPGSound and music: Nicely done with two vocal tracks on the soundtrackVoice-acting: Crisp and well-done voices by people like Chad Letts, Kelly Weaver, Ned Schuft, John Truitt and T. Owen SmithControls: Excellent for an RPGPlot: The world of Lunar is on the verge of hideous destruction with the eventual forthcoming of the Supreme Master of Treachery and God of Destruction Zophar (Voiced by T. Owen Smith), as a girl from a former world - The Blue Star: Lucia (Voiced by Kelly Weaver) comes forth to prevent the evil entity's return... then comes two denizens of Lunar whom get involved with Lucia's mission - Hiro (Voiced by Chad Letts) (A lovesick, adventurous sixteen-year-old whom falls in love with Lucia) and his pet baby dragon Ruby (Voiced by Jennifer Stigile). As they move through Lunar to stop Zophar from coming back as well as awakening the Goddess of Love and Beauty Althena, they meet several important denizens: Leo (Voiced by Ty Webb) - A powerful magic swordsman, Ronfar (Voiced by Ned Schuft) - A magical gambler with superb healing magic, Jean (Voiced by Jennifer Stigile)- A fan dancer with a mysterious past whom eventually becomes a powerful Martial Artist with Street Fighter-like techniques, Lemina (Voiced by Kathy Ostrander) - A Magic Guild Student with powerful elemental magic and Nall (Voiced by Jonathan Esses) - the Future White Dragon whom assumed the form of a youngster human (Think Luna from Sailor Moon).Fun Factor: Anime everywhere you go, Anime sequences with CGI included, unique battle system and mechanics, undeniable charm, heartwarming moments, the Omake Box and an Epilogue to continue the adventure! And so: Grab this RPG gem and get it complete - you'll like all of the extras included in the Omake Box!

Still Shining Bright
I played the prequel on GBA, but this is on a whole different level. Almost done with disc one and the story and characters are amazing. The change between voices and normal text is impressive for an older game, but it's nice to hear the emotions from characters. I hope that the rest of the game and can find a copy of the first game to experience the story from the beginning.

Jurassic, but not Classic.
All you nostalgic people out there who won't play new RPG's for what ever reason, and who give high ratings to ancient games that weren't even that great when Mr. Flintstone played them, this goes out to you. Get off you high horse and play games like Suikoden 1 & 2 or Final Fantasy VII & IX and Xenogears. Afterwards, if you can still say that Lunar 2 is better, then I'll feel really sorry for you. But I'll also tell you that if you are going to play antiques, then play something that's actually good (i.e. Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, ect.). Not this trash. Now for those of you who have played real RPG's like those listed above and who might be curious about this game. Don't Be! The story line is practically a carbon copy of the original Lunar. Which wasn't great either. You'll notice that both heroes look alike and both have annoying flying monkeys. Why live the same bad story twice??? Also, the battle system is boring and the fact that you'll be using it alot is enough to drive anyone crazy. In conclusion, not all old games are bad. But some are, and to give a game a high rating just because it was the first RPG you've ever played, or because you were the only one on you're block who bought a Sega CD back in the days of the Dinosaur and this was the best game for that system (which isn't saying much), just isn't right. Take my advise. Advoid this at all costs!!!

This is one of "the the" worst games ever
First off, I'd like to defend Ethan Knight against empire03's attack on his error in spelling "advice". We all make mistakes, so has empire03 (i.e. this is a selection from his review: "I have the Sega CD version, but I would replace it the the PSX version in a heartbeat." I think you only need to write "the" once, my friend.) Now, on to the game. This is the kind of game you would enjoy if you've never played a video game in your entire life. Otherwise, this game is very lacking and will probably bore the slime out of people who have played games far greater than this. I'm not dissing the graphics or the fact that this game is old (age matters not), no the problem with this game is that the story is unoriginal and the battles, while avoidible, are quite possibly the most boring, repetitive, and just unfun in the history of RPG's. So, take Mr. Knight's and my "advice", stay away from this.

Working Designs... Why did I have to wait so long.
Well after about nearly 100 push backs of the release date Lunar: Eternal Blue for the PSX finally came out, I got it on release day from a local store. Immediately I went home popped the game in my system and spent mindless hours in front of it seeing what all the folks at WD added. And to my disappointment I found all they added were a few movie scenes and bromides. No extra dungeons, a little bit more color on the graphics, they removed the old save file system and the magic experience system (yup that's right the Final Fantasy series was not the first to do the thing with magic experience) and really I would personally rather play the Sega CD version. I mean I would not be that upset if WD had not kept on putting off the release date if they had actually added some fantastic stuff like they did with Lunar: SSS. But no, all they did was add a dash of color here and a movie there. If I were going to give advice it is this. If you have a SegaCD and do not own Lunar2 go buy it on E-bay or E-mail me, if you have a PSX and have played the original just rent it... If you have not played the original or do not have a SegaCD then buy it. I guess my negativity would be towards working desgins though... I can't believe we had to wait so long for just a few movies and colors. Urghh.....
