Educational and informative
Purchased as a gift. The book is very informative and the content is just right for a primary school child who is finding their love for science

Stunning
I'm currently doing my teacher training to be a primary school teacher and treated myself to this book in an attempt to convince myself that I like science! Not only is the book absolutely beautiful, but it's also really informative and I've learned so many new things from reading it (not just about the women themselves but STEM in general). A lot of the women are American but there has been some effort to make this book representative and diverse. Each woman has an illustrated double page about her with a page long biography, interesting facts and a quote. I also love that the book touches on statistics, includes a timeline and has the most aesthetically pleasing (but functional!) glossary I've ever seen.I really wish I'd had this as a 9 year old and can't wait to have this in my classroom library. Will be treating myself to Rachel's next book about Women in Sport when it's released in the UK!

it unnecessarily highlights the role of men in her life and ...
This book is not just for little girls, but for any woman or man of any age within or with an interest in the STEM fields. It is highly inspirational and full of detailed, aesthetic illustrations. The biographies are bite-size and you're likely to encounter several fascinating female scientists you've never previously had an opportunity to hear about. While it maintains a relatively solid feminist agenda, the book has its shortcomings. Occasionally, instead of simply making justice to the female scientist, it unnecessarily highlights the role of men in her life and career. As a result it seems as if were implied that the woman could not have become successful without the aid of a man.As the book is in presentation style and content rather engaging, and for the most part successfully conveys what it intends, I'm willing to overlook some sexism and give it a careful 4/5 stars.

Female scientists have landed
Informative book about a whole range of female scientists, who have been there in the shadows or right upfront - changing the workd. The illustrations are fabulous, addictive to read. Wow!

Great intro to science for all!
Fantastic introduction to women in science! Bought for my 8 & 10 year old girls and they love it. Great variety of individual stories from ancient Egypt to the modern space age, with lovely artwork to accompany each story. Great springboard for an introduction to science subjects and the women who excelled within science. Each page has a story of one woman and her achievements which is ideal as a bedtime story or to inspire further research! Highly recommend it!

Amazing book
Purchased for my daughter who was really pleased with it. This is one of the nicest books I have ever seen, it is amazingly written and presented interestingly especially for younger people. A really beautiful and inspiring book.

Her favourite book
I gave this book to a friend's 7 year old little girl. It has been a few months and the little girl is only ever seen with this book. It's so beautiful to see her reading (it is a bit hard for her and she does need help with it) about all of these inspiring women. She has been saying now that she would like to be a paleontologist and would like to learn more about the things women have done. This might have been the best present I've ever given anyone in my life. Since seeing it some of my adult friends have bought this book for themselves to read about women in science. I really do highly recomend this for any young girl.

Darling at home who is an adolescent approved
She is not the type of person to express easy approval for the unexpected item even if she knows how good the gift is and no matter how discontent she may found out with a detail, it's not so apparent but the feelings use to be sincere. Therefore, when she enthusiastically said that the piece is a gem, I guess I got it on bull's eye, cause it was something certainly she had no idea to have or to see it till that moment. So, points for Amz. to made it home and to the daddy?

Wonderful and informative book
Women in Science is neatly and simply written and gloriously illustrated by Rachel Ignotofsky. This book is short- can be read in 1, 2 or 3 days but it is also the kind that will make you want to come back to it again and again! Wonderful and informative.

50 científicas, diseño novedoso y mucha información
The media could not be loaded.

A Brilliant Book Of History Of Women In Technical And Scientific Fields
It's a detailed book about whom these women geniuses were and what they were about. They were some of the true pioneers of women in technology and science. If anyone ever wondered if women can have technical, scientific brains and the minds to go with them, then this book is one of the best. It's also colourful in content and has a different font. Some of the women's careers include; Marie Curie - Physicist & Chemist, Valentina Tereshkova - Engineer & Cosmonaut, Rosalyn Yalow - Medical Physicist, Jane Cooke Wright - Onocologist, Katherine Johnson - Physicist & Mathematician, Chien-Shiung Wu - Experimental Physicist, Grace Hopper - Navy Admiral & Computer Scientist, Alice Ball - Chemist, Edith Clarke - Electrical Engineer, Ada Lovelace - Mathematician & Programmer and so many more interesting technical & scientific geniuses. So if you have ever wondered if women can have minds that go well beyond the expected, double standard stereotypes, then this book is for you. I love it! Even I as a woman myself didn't know all these great minds as I was never that good in history. Brilliance doesn't always have the face of Einstein and he is one of my favourites. The faces of brilliance also come in the type that don't need a shave. This book is written by a brilliant author and writer. It can re-educate both men and women alike. It's also an educational book that's good to read to the younger generation.I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Great book. brief stories about inspirational, strong, smart people. Fight the bias :)
I loved this. Bought a second one. Read it in one sitting so it's ready to give to a young girl to hopefully inspire her! It's just single page summaries of amazing women, highlighting their achievements and their struggles, which were absurd and horrible in some cases. Women these days fighting for equal opportunity etc: yes, great, please keep going, keep fighting and I'm with you (as a minority in my field), but some of you really need to stop whining and assuming every misfortune in your lives or set back is because of your gender. And please stop looking for ways to be offended! Don't assume the implications in people's words (lumped into "microaggressions") - ask them what they meant. And for goodness sakes, think about productive discussions instead, actionable discussions! Things don't change in history solelg because of whining. what we have these days is far better than what so many women faced throughout history, even recently.Sorry, got distracted. Lovely book. Cute pictures (for kids). Even in my thirties this was inspirational!I just hope the parents who help read this to youngens do a good job.Why do I feel uncomfortable gifting this to young boys though? Must break this bias :(
