Silverline Post Level 140 x 100mm (SL05)

Excellent item!!

I bought this to put up 12 fence posts, and it made aligning the posts a breeze. The best bit is that it comes with a rubber band, so you can attach it to a fence post (it's also magnetic, I believe, if you've got metal posts), which means that you don't have to fiddle with a spirit level every time you take the fence post in / out of the hole to modify it, which will no doubt happen if you're putting up a fence and need the posts accurately positioned. I'm not usually a fan of Silverline tools, but this spirit level is amazing for the money. Best bit is that the fence posts I put up are actually vertically plumb, rather than leaning around like drunken sailors, like the ones the builders put up on the other border.

I'm really pleased with this Post Level, yet another product from Silverline that makes DIY easier at a really reasonable price. It is actually bigger than I was expecting, standing at just under 140mm high and with the arms extending out 90mm on each side. The level is made from a very thick and sturdy plastic and should take some considerable use. There are 3 vials (bubbles) of approximately 35mm in length each, these are really easy to read and my tests so far have shown them to be accurate, unlike another reviewer I found them to be very well fixed to the unit and could see no evidence that they may fall out. The inside of the level has four magnetic strips, measuring 75mm x 13mm, and these can be used to hold the level to suitable posts, the individual magnets are not particularly strong but when all four are used together they are surprisingly effective. The level also comes complete with an extra-thick elastic band, this is large enough to fit around the level and a post when the magnets are not suitable; this is the most disappointing feature of the product, the idea is sound but the band is not of a particularly good quality and will almost certainly need replacing. Regardless of this minor deficit the product offers excellent value and really makes the job of fitting posts so much easier, as is standard with Silverline handtools it comes with a lifetime guarantee if registered online within 30 days of purchase. Recommended.

Simple to use and fits onto the fence post using an elastic band which is also supplied with the level. You can quickly get your fence posts level on all sides which then means you can fix them with concreate. I found using this made the job of replacing fence posts and panels a lot easier and the finished job looked better than I had done previously before I bought the level. It is quite hardwearing. I knocked over a fence post with the level on the end of it and it survived that without any damage.

Just put up over 30 posts using this spirit level device. Simultaneously checks alignment in both directions. A brilliant product and I would thoroughly recommend it. Might have been rather more robustly made but excellent value for the price. Dont know how I managed without it!

Very low cost, and much easier to use than a stand alone spirit level thanks to the highly technical....err thick elastic band that holds it in place at the top of the post you're siting. Fits fine on 4" and 3" square posts. Is accurate most of the time - however the bubbles in the spirit are very prone to separating into 2 or 3 with only very light knocks - much worse than any other spirit level that I have and something that can make it useless for a few minutes at a time when you really need it. That said, it's very handy and given the price I'd pleased I bought it.
