Saving money as we speak
This is a useful little timer unit for the immersion heater. I have economy seven, but as any of you who also have it, it doesn't provide for enough hot water on a busy cleaning day! So you flick the boost switch on for a bit of extra hot water, then forget about it. Two days later you remember that you have been heating the water at the higher rate for two days. This switch allows you to boost the heat for a quarter of an hour to 2 hours max. Press the button, and walk away knowing you are not going to waste energy, money or the environment anymore.Fitting by a qualified person is essential, and it loses one star for having a common connector for both the mains and load earth leads which makes it a bit tricky to squish in there, but other than that it was easy to fit as a replacement for the fused switch.

Easy to use bit flashing lights a minor irriant if used in a bedroom.
Far easier than a programmable switch for people who don't like routine lives. Would give it 5* but the blue lights flash for 30 secons or so each time the timer drops to the next interval which tends to keep you awake at night.

Functional but flawed
I bought this over other brands because of the switch. If you're thinking the same thing, think again, and read on.Timer function works fine, but the function of the switch seems a bit pointless. The timer lights light up regardless of which position the switch is in. But if the switch is off, despite the timer lights lighting, you will get no power to your device (but the lights still light up !!!). So switch on and apply the timer and you have power. Since I replaced the existing switch to my immersion heater, I was quite disappointed that this switch, effectively does nothing; or nothing useful at least. I was assuming that one could use the switch to apply power, while bypassing the timer.one star for fuse and two stars for timer.minus 2 stars for stupid switch, and incomplete instructions ( I had to discover the meaning of the switch by trial and error; error first)

Immersion heater time switch
Got this for my immersion heater, now fitted two more to towel heaters. Simple to install but cramped space for wiring so buy a spacer as well. Simple to use and stops the family leaving heaters on continuously

Wiring diagram incorrect.
Although this acts as a fused, timed boost switch, so for most purposes it works okay, the wiring diagram is wrong; for some very odd reason, the fused isolator switch is wired *after* the timeswitch, so even when the fused switch is set to OFF, the boost LEDs still light up when you press the boost button. The boost does *not* work if you wire it the other way round, i.e., putting the supply onto L-out and the load onto L-in to put the fused switch first in the circuit. This means that you will always have an active (and unfused) circuit in the timeswitch rather than a properly isolated one.

Well made and simple to operate
Well made, solid build quality, came with long screws to allow me to fit it straight over the top of the existing wall mounted backing box for my extractor fan switch.Has sensible wire terminal blocks for the novice to make a safe and easy connection.Simple to operate, you just press the boost button several times to select how long you want it to run for. It then is on and it de-illuminates the lights as a kind of count down.Comes with a 13A fuse (that can be changed if needed, I'm using a 1A fuse for my extractor fan).

Great Short Term Timer For My Towel Rail Heater
I have a towel rail that is heated by the central heating for the colder times of the year. The rest of the time I have an electrically heated element in the towel rail. This timer enables me to control the period of heating up to 2 hours in the warmer times of the year. This enough for the towels to dry without me having to remember to go back and switch it off the heater later.
