Shorrocks Traditional Lancashire Cheese Bomb LARGE- 460g

This cheese is absolutely gorgeous! it has become my favourite cheese since tasting it. It comes in a funky black bomb shape (hence the name) if you don't open it straight away it will last for a long time I actually had 2 so didn't want to open the second one straight away. It is strong but without being over bearing, it is rich and creamy so perfect for crackers and cheese night, pickles, or a charcuterie board...or cooking with so it is very versatile, the quality of the cheese is top notch with the most amazing taste that is a kind of cross between Wensleydale/cheddar and without being a blue cheese a slight blue cheese taste. I recommend you give it a go as a deffo for the cheese lover.

Bought as a gift for my sister in law after strong recommendations! I believe she loved it, the shape was definitely remarked upon! Now I'm going to have to try it for myself.

Not eaten it yet. Waiting for when we can have company as it's got a year's date on it which is excellent. Edited - Not that we've had company I hasten to add. I bought this in May 2020, it had a whole year's date on it, and I thought that as it's now March 2021 it should be opened as it says to eat by May 2021 - been in the fridge for 10 months, so I thought here goes. Wow, it's well manured :-) FAB U LOUS - Took the roof of our mouths almost off - WONDERFUL !! and made my toes almost curl up, EVEN BETTER, then my eyes kind of went slitty and I went into DREAM CHEESE MODE. Oh boy, if you like strong cheese this is the one for you. LOV ER LY. When it's gone, I shall be ordering more.

I first came across this cheese 20 years ago at a farmers’ market in North Yorkshire and was blown away (no pun intended) by the complexity of the Bomb’s flavour. Up until that point, my experience of Lancashire cheese was bland “Cheshire”-style wedges served up by my rather conservative mother-in-law but this was a different taste universe altogether. Since that day I have been near evangelical about this cheese and have spread it far and wide. I even have a friend in Kentucky who begs me to send it to him at least twice a year. In a world of people praising mature cheddar above everything else, Lancashire barely gets a look in but the Bomb is definitely the contender in hiding. Do yourself a favour and order yourself one today and recall the day your cheese world shifted on its axis. Oh yeah!

Getting into it was a challenge as its sealed to lock in the flavour and scent. Once open you won't put it down. It's amazing..I'm not a big cheese lover but wow this is Creamy, strong and moreish. It must keep for a while too as the wax skin has a husk too. I bought 2 so have another chance to enjoy it as its not just for Christmas lol. Very recommended.

It is so creamy and by far my favourite cheese, even though I have to say it is something for a special occasion as it is not really on the cheap side. But still worth every penny! It also came in a good and sturdy packaging, which was good as the cheese was a gift. I could even use the box as a gift container after exchanging the packaging material with nice napkins. Would definitely buy again!
