I bought this Netgear GS108 switch to replace my 5 port GS105. Not that the GS105 was faulty, on the contrary it has given 24/7 365 days for 15 years of service with an uptime of 99.99% (just a restart once a year and a couple of power cuts). All I needed were the extra ports. The GS108 with the same build quality I'm expecting the same longevity. An excellent product backed by years of experience, I have no problem giving 5 stars to this. Delivery was quick from Amazon and setup was as easy as unplug the old switch and plug in the new one then reconnect all the ethernet cables and leave it to do it's own thing quietly in the background - easy as pie. If you need an unmanaged switch - look no further.

This is a great value product that works out of the box, allowing it to be auto not manual means the connections either the TV or the xbox connected to it, get what they need and the wired connection means less traffic on my router and more stable, fast connection to the 1gb broadband, again not limited by the router. Been fab after a month or so of use. Very happy. Delivered without any issue

A very nice unit and seems to work well, something I just wanted to power up plug and play. Similar to the Prosafe 16 port Gigabit switch, I have had to power cycle reset the unit once as it seemed to get itself in a loop but otherwise works well at Gigabit speed. Could be my router that's causing the loop problem on these switches but generally they are good and good value.

No settings to change or switches to set. I wanted a hub that would be reliable and stable, network issues can hijack your entire day trying to trace problems so I always go for this brand. I considered the GS308 which was a bit cheaper but read a review of that compared with this model, the ProSafe GS108. Despite looking very similar on the outside, there were some key internal component differences which apparently made it unlikely to ever fail, hence I suppose the ProSafe guarantee of lifetime replacement. The additional reliability combined with the extra led to indicate 10m, 100m or gigabit connection meant this was the one for me. I've had items connected which turned out to be operating sub optimally because the ethernet lead had cut back the data rates from 1000m to 100m without me being aware so I always like to see which led's light for each device. Besides I quite like to see all the flickering lights, it makes me feel informed and reassured its doing its bit. They are a bit bright though and can't be dimmed so I wouldn't suggest this unit for a bedside installation.

I love the metal design of these switches! Seems to work without issue. Replaced an older switch that may have caused network instability. I was concerned about this vendor due to other reviews, but the item was new and functioned as expected.

great product, does what it says on the tin

This is a reasonably heavy gadget so be prepared for that and don't drop it like I did on taking it out of the box. After picking it up and plugging it into the power, the green led came on immediately. I read the instructions, such as there was. Like most gadgets nowadays they consist of a diagram which doesn't really tell you much! In for a penny.... I thought. I plugged in my PC, NAS and Vodafone Sure Signal into it along with the router. After I booted up the PC I was disappointed that I didn't have internet access! What had I done wrong? I had a look at the questions and answers for this item here and then realised that I had plugged the router into P4 when it should be in P5! Moved the plug and hey presto, got my internet access back. Phew. If you are unsure if this is the piece of kit for you, the best advice I can give you is this: Buy this is you want your router in a different area than the rest of your kit. It works like an extension multiplug. You run a single cable to your router (MUST be plugged into P5) and then simply plug your gadgets into the rest of the ports. Simple.

Performed flawlessly, quick and easy installation. I had them out of the box, installed, and working perfectly in 10 minutes.

Pretty standard kit, works well but came with a UK power pack which is a pain in the arse in Australia because it wont fit in my desk cable management rig with an adaptor to AU plug

I ordered this item which was shipped from the UK. Item arrived with no US power adapter. Item not useable. I tried to return the order but they refused to accept it.
