5cm high 96 hours after planting. 5ft three month later. Eating from 130 days.
August 17th follow up - First sweetcorn eaten. Very tasty, very sweet and nice looking. All round I'd say that Sweetcorn 'swift' is a winner. The first cobb eaten was 130 days from planting seeds, so there's no problem with the British climate (Hertfordshire) for these.July 14th follow up13 out of the 17 that germinated carried on growing to be planted out at around 25cm high. There was a strong correlation between the centre of the seed-tray (warmest under the plant light) and success. Three months after planting in a seed tray, most are 4-5ft high and all have both male and female flowers. I'm trying to help pollination along by hand but I can see from the leaves that pollen is getting sprinkled naturally where it needs to go.April 10 th original review -Ordered Saturday, delivered Sunday morning. Soaked 20 seeds for 6-8 hours and then planted Sunday evening under a 25w plant light for warmth. It's now Wednesday evening and 17 out of 20 have germinated and four of them are 5cm tall. So far so good.

Best Variety for harsher Northern Areas.
I have found this Variety of Corn most successful on my allotment in East Lancashire. We are about three weeks behind the South Coast (My son lives there) so we have a shorter growing period and harsher conditions. The soil is acidic and sandy from the glacial deposits. I add calcified seaweed to help release nutrients. I now use Permaculture as I am unable to dig so there is no shortage of humus. Open to the Pennine Moors we do get strong and cold winds. I found it easier to put a mesh of string between low stakes to prevent wind damage even though they are shorter plants than other varieties. I sow in general multipurpose compost in Peat pots. ( Corn hates it's roots being disturbed) then I germinate the seeds in an electric heated propagator in May. Remove to the greenhouse as soon as they have all showed. I harden off for a week then Plant out. I plant in a block and get excellent pollination results. Always two good full cobs for each plant the third not so full. For those in Northern areas it's worth giving this variety a try. The Cobs also freeze well. I cut each cob into three (Removing the leaves and silk then top and tailing first. Blanch in boiling water for 3 mins, Then laying on a tray and freezing sperately. Once frozen they can be bagged and used as and when.
