The Park and the People: A History of Central Park

I found the history of Central Park as fascinating as the history of Manhattan.

The book was well used. Interesting facts about, Central park, I also found out about my ancestors that lived in the area and were known to have donated some of their land to New York city to expand the park.

The book is brilliant. If you really want to know the politics and the history of CP. This is the book.

Finally an Olmsted book I can appreciate, and I am in landscape architecture!

Not very impressed with the information . More information on Senecca Village needed

to be honest i did not finish this and i am not sure i will. I am not saying anyone should not buy this but it really is more of an academic textbook rather than one of the many books on aspects of NYC history that captures the adventure and drama of much of its history. I wanted to feel the excitement and struggle to make Central Park but got a monotone lecture instead.
