Coleman Event Shelter - 15' x 15'
I use this for 6 days from 30th July to 4th August for an event on 2nd August. The weather was good on all days except 2nd August when it rained for most of the morning, thus giving me the chance to experience any water resistant property of the shelter. Strangely enough there was no leakage but on checking in the morning of 3rd August there was condensation on the inside of the canopy, which was easily wiped off. I put this down to the fact that it had rained the previous day, I did not use a ground sheet and water would have been able to seep through on the grass due to a very slight incline of the ground. Other than that it did exactly the job it was bought for - to give protection to about 20 people from any rain and temperature drop in the evening. I have now bought the groundsheet and hope this will resolve the condensation issue, though that will have to wait until next year now. I had already bought two 'door and 2 sidewall panels which were used on 2nd August to very good effect. The event shelter provided the solution to the suitable cover and protection for around 20 people, which in previous years events had caused problems. I had looked at possibly buying a large tent to remedy matters but that would have cost over 3 times the price and been far more awkward to store. The parts fold-up very easily and neatly and go back in to the supplied bag, which occupies a relatively small space in the corner of my shed. I sprayed the joints and inside of the poles with WD40 to give some protection from any damp that may have crept in, however I will not know how well this has worked until I use it/open it up next year. There is one down side. The instructions for erecting the shelter are attached on the inside of the carry bag and leave quite a lot to be desired. The clarity of the 'picture only' instructions are easily misinterpreted and the importance of properly aligning the leg poles before setting-up and fixing with tent pegs could readily be missed. I suspect some of those who have complained about bent or broken poles may well have fallen foul of this lack of clarity. Luckily I took the construction process slowly and methodically - I won't pretend I got it right at first attempt - and arrived at a stable (surprisingly very stable) structure. I did try the construction first without putting the canopy on, which enabled me to make better sense of the instructions. I note that the time to construct quickly seems to be held out as a virtue. I would suggest that this process is not treated as a 'race against time', but take the time to familiarise yourself with the parts and the proper construction and get at least another person to help you. I could have put this all together on my own, though preferred the extra help and advice in making sure it was being put up correctly. Hopefully none of this is taken as being negative comment as I think the concept and product are excellent - more thought to the instruction though - please.

Large and stable shelter
I bought this for use while camping. It makes a perfect shelter for cooking and eating. It is easy to erect, although probably best done with 2. Initially I didn't use the lengths of tape that ensure you get it square and correctly sized. Once I found them and realised what they were the instructions became clear. It rained fairly hard on our first use. The shelter is not 100% waterproof with a few drips making it through the ventilation at the top of the 'roof'. But it was only a few and much better than being out in the rain, though. I also bought 2 sides/sunwalls (not from Amazon). They do help to cut out the breeze but weren't really very well made and wouldn't offer much protection in a stiff wind. Disappointed with those. The elastic on one set of poles was broken when we unpacked the shelter. Kicked off the returns process and filled in a returns form. Within a couple of hours I'd had a mail from Amazon advising that a replacement had been dispatched. It arrived the following morning! Fantastic service. Why can't other suppliers be so efficient? 5 stars for the shelter and 5 stars for Amazon.

Great concept, Great design, perfect gazebo for outdoor living
I use my Event Shelter on a weekly basis from early March to mid October and occasionally through the winter. Mine is over 2 years old and I imagine that's probably had four times more use that the average one will ever be used. I use it as a commercial gazebo and all in all it's brilliant and extremely resilient to the British weather. I do see many event shelters and gazebos of all types bite the dust in windy conditions, the key to yours surviving is learn how to put it up correctly. Once that is done, make sure you secure it by pegging the base and also the guy-ropes. Mine gets put up and taken down by myself 90% of the time and it takes me 15-20 minutes to put up and 10-15 to take down and pack away working on my own. I have never used sides on it, but they seem reasonable enough, although I'm unsure whether my shelter would have survived some storms if I had sides on. The shelter comes with a 2 year guarantee which is with the seller. The second time I used it 2 poles were damaged, a mixture of extreme weather and not securing sufficiently down. The seller arranged collection of the damaged sections and replacement ones arrived within 3 days. Regarding how waterproof the shelter is, please look at my answer to the question above. All in all if everything I bought were 1/2 as well designed and built I'd be a happy bunny

Great event shelter - not as waterproof as you might think.
I bought this shelter for two reasons: - 1 to use in the garden - 2 (because of its light weight and compact size), to take camping. The shelter is very easy to erect for 2 people. More people are useful in high winds. Its actually fairly easy to put up even without the instructions, but to ensure they don't get lost, they are sewn into the bag anyway, which I thought was a nice touch. To secure the shelter you get 16 round wire pegs. 2 for each foot (8) and a further 8 for the guy ropes. Do yourself a favour and get some decent plastic cross or square section storm pegs, the round pegs are rubbish for guy ropes. So the shelter itself is great, we had 12 people and chairs plus tables under it while camping. However looking at the construction you would hope that it is waterproof. Unfortunately it is not! When enough rain is falling, it leeches through the flysheet where it touches the poles. Then it runs around the poles and drips on your head. Notwithstanding it copes well in light drizzle, but I was camping in west Wales so rain tends to be a bit more intense there. You can get sides which I would consider buying 1 or 2 in due course, but actually we used a modern tall windbreak, (5 foot high), which was extremely effective and allowed a lot of light in at the top. I would imagine the black sides from Coleman would make it seem quite dark and less welcoming if fitted, particularly as they have no windows. Don't know why they are not in a more appealling colour - orange, blue, green would be better than black, and allow customers to tie it in with their other camp kit. The other thing that occurs to me with the sides is that I doubt the supplied bag is big enough to accomodate all the extras that are available which is a shame really as if bought you'd want to keep the whole thing together. Overall an excellent addition to my 'outdoor living' equipment. People we were camping with said they would definitely get one for themselves.

One word SUPERB !!!!
The only word I can use to describe this product is superb.I bought this shelter for camping but erected it first to use whilst working on a project in my garden and I must say that, firstly it was a little difficult to erect on my own but would be very easy for two. The material used is top quality, very well made and looks fantastic, it stood up to very high winds and torrential rain with only a slight leek at the seems. This has got to be the best shelter/gazebo I have ever bought, and I have bought a good few in my 66 years, therefore I hole heartedly recommend this product and would definitely buy again. All I can say about the negative reviews with regards it being flimsy and easily ripped,is that they must have erected it incorrectly.and as for the height of the entrance being to low,my son-in-law who is 6ft:4 has no problem at All.I have just taken down my shelter after being up for over 4 weeks and there is no sign of any rust(as reported in other reviews),in fact it looks as though it has not even been used.

Excellent, well recommended
This is just the thing for camping with friends. We cooked under it, ate under it and drank and chatted in the evenings. You will want at least 2 walls to go with it to keep out the wind. I only used 2 on our recent trip and it was enough but if the weather turned I would doubtless have been grateful for the other wall and the door set I also brought. The walls go up and down really easily, they clip on with big plastic clips and then attach down at the feet to keep everything tight. No windows in the walls though, only in the door wall. Used in reasonably strong winds with no problem at all, just remember to peg down the feet and use the supplied guy ropes even if you aren't expecting wind. There is a lot of fabric to catch the wind especially with one or more walls up. It isn't supposed to be waterproof but people seem to be saying that proofing the seams is sufficient to keep things pretty dry underneath. It's big - 4.5m square so watch out for that on restricted size camp sites - but nicely fit 6 sets of adults in the evening. A couple of families can easily cook and eat under it without getting in each others way. This is much better than our previous (admittedly cheap) gazebo.

Fantastic Shelter
Short version. Fantastic, takes 2 men 15 mins to erect with side panels and totally waterproof. Long version. I read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. I manage/coach a under 7 rugby team. We go to festivals and friendlies in all weather. Even though it is described as a sun shelter, I purchased this primarily for use when it's raining. So far only used it the once, but it was amazing. Myself and another coach arrived at the tournament and it was windy and threatening to rain. So we set about putting it up. The poles are held together by sprung wire, so no worries of which attached to which (beware – don't be too heavy handed with these. Our under 10 coach has managed to break one of the wires!). We very quickly had the frame together, with the feet on. We then set about putting the cover on. Not easy in strong wind. We are big guys, but were a little concerned we might end up in the next field. We had already pegged down the feet. This proved a problem. As we hadn't got them the right distance apart we couldn't get the cover on. Had to un-peg the feet and move them. Got the cover on. The side panels were easy to fit – had our 7 year old boys help. All done just as the heavens opened up. It poured down. The water was cascading off the shelter and down the sides – on the outside. Totally dry inside. This is also good in moderate windy conditions, because it is slightly flexible. Thoroughly recommend.

Quality has gone downhill!!
We first brought an extra large event shelter back in 2018. It was brilliant! We took it camping twice, and it stood for three whole summers I our fairly exposed garden: it withstood wind, rain, storms... Very impressive! So, at the beginning of summer 2022, we realised it was time for a new canopy - the old one was a little torn at the edges, but, given what it had withstood, it owed us nothing! We discovered it was cheaper to just buy a whole new shelter. Which is what we did. The new one turned up in good time, however the netting in the central portion of the shelter was ripped. The seller was brilliant and sent us a new one. However, we didn't need the shelter up as much last summer, and so we didn't use the replacement canopy until just over a week ago. Everything was great, and we got a couple of uses out of it. However, we had a night of light wind... And we're talking nothing like the old shelter went through! We came out the next morning and the whole thing had collapsed!! The actual metal poles had snapped (see pictures) and ripped through the fabric!. Now considering that our old shelter withstood three summers of being permanently erected, and went through some pretty windy conditions, we thought the new one wound be the same. We still have the old frame, and indeed the old canopy, and on comparing the quality of materials, we can see that the materials of the new one are hugely inferior to those of the old one. The metal of the frame is weak (hubby is a metal worker and he knows his onions when it comes to metal quality) and the fabric of the canopy is flimsier. We're very disappointed, as we been so impressed with the original one! Would be reluctant to buy again.

Best shade structure
Excellent shade structure. This is the second one I have purchased. The first one lasted five years and survived several windstorms. But time in the Arizona heat took its toll on the nylon webbing. One final windstorm did some damage before I could take it down. We liked it so much that we bought another one to replace it. I won't repeat the good points that the company uses to describe it. It's all true. The reason we like it so much is it's unique shape, the interesting ways you can light it at night, and the open welcoming feeling it gives off. One thing, we use 12"x1/4" lag bolts and a battery-operated impact driver to fasten it to the ground, tent stakes pull out too easily.

Stabil und schnell aufgebaut.
Top!

2nd Coleman 15’ XL canopy dome and love it
I bought my first one in Aug 2015 for $163 and this recent one in Aug 2023 for $276. 8 years difference and what with inflation, still a good deal. The 1st is still functional, though a couple of rod’s links have disconnected, but still fully functional. The size is amazing and for covering a tent or seated area, the arcs give much more space than a conventional square canopy. Follow the instructions and it can be assembled in less than 30 min your first time. Terrific product and well made!
