Dry contacts make this useful for switching alternative voltages.
This model, the FGS212, has recently been replaced with the FGS213, however there is one key advantage of still using this older model over the newer replacement - dry contacts. These however may also be a disadvantage depending on your intended use for this device. If you are wanting a relay to switch LED loads, then be aware of the inrush current associated with some LED loads. This inrush current has been known to "weld" the contacts on a relay closed, rendering your device useless. If you intend to switch mains voltage LED lighting then you may wish to look at the newer model the 213 which does not have dry contacts. The advantage of dry contacts on this model means that although the unit itself is mains powered, it can be used to switch alternative voltages. You could for example use this to close terminals on a push button garage door, while taking its own power from the mains to the garage control unit. You could not do this with the new 213 unit.Setup and inclusion into a controller like SmartThings is straight forward and the device has many parameters that can be set to allow the device to work in various situations. An example would be an auto off timer, so using the garage door example the device could be set to auto off after 1 second, simulating the temporary push of a button (closing of cuircuit). For mains voltage LED switching and other inrush current applications go for the newer 213.For switching of alternative voltages from this mains powered unit go for this 212.

Great
Excellent relay switch. Replaced a thermostat that was controlling a valve in the heating system with this and never had any problems for the 3 months I've been using it. Using it with Smartthings, it paired instantly (8 meters and 2 walls from the hub), no custom DH (device handler), so easy to use from Smartthings, ActionTiles or Google home. Will be getting some more of these to control various extractor fans.
