Easy to use and small to store
I'm still learning how to use these but I have already created some frighteningly sharp knives with it. Produces a consistent edge to the blade.

Handy Kit
A great set. It takes a but of getting used to, but leaves a razor sharp edge.

Good sharpener. You’ll need the stand as well, though.
This is a good piece of kit for the price, and a good sharp edge is quite easily achieved. However, it’s daft that the stand has to be bought separately; the sharpener is unusable without it! The jaws of the clamp are quite difficult to get properly angled to grip the knives, resulting in the knives slipping, which is annoying. I resolved this by gluing a patch of emery cloth to each inside face of the clamp. Good grip restored. Happy customer.

Must have for knife owners!
Superb product, transformed blunt knives into chopping machines! Really easy and safe to use. Will be able to maintain knives to excellent sharpness. I would also recommend getting the ultra fine hone to really get a good finish. Also, any well sharpened knife should be stropped after sharpening and before each use.

Expensive but really does work
There are many other knife sharpeners out there, but you easily get to a place where they just aren't doing the trick. The lansky system is really clever. The clamp system allows you to grip the blade, then using one of the supplied hones, and a hole in the clamp which indicates the angle of the strokes you will use, you can steadily, and actually fairly quickly, take a pretty rubbish blade to a really razer sharp finish. Start with coarse and work your way to fine and you will have some seriously sharp knives in no time. Marked down one star because it's quite expensive ultimately for what you get, and the clamp can be a bit fiddly with smaller blades.

It seemed like a straight forward sharpening system for a person who has never successfully sharpens knifes in the past. So far the result have been excellent. All the knife, including the aerated knife have a good cutting edge on them again. All the knives I have sharpened before have thanked me for getting this.

4/5 convenience 5/5 effectiveness I only docked one star off the convenience factor because I'd like to able to resharpen a blade in the field, but the kit as a whole is a little bulky, and is defintely something you want to sit down and setup... not as quick as a pocket sharpener, though still FAR more effective. if you have a little time to sit down with it, it is actually very easy to use, an almost idiot-proof way to a professional edge. I've tried just about every way to sharpen a knife, and I'll never use anything but this kit again. It's simple, safe for the steel, and incredibly effective. Anything motorized is harsh on steel. Heating up the steel risks changing the tempering, making the edge less durable and ruining the blade. The other small handheld devices out there, with the v-shaped notches... some work OK for a little while. But even the better ones wear out quickly and soon become totally useless. Using a set of stones is by far the best way. Finding the right angle is difficult by hand though, and keeping that angle consistent from one stroke to the next is all but impossible. The simple bracket design built into the Lansky set makes keeping the right angle pretty much idiot-proof. For a badly dulled blade, you may need to step through all stones, from coarse to fine. A better edge may just need a touch up with the fine stone. If I had to name a con for the review, it'd definitely be the serrated stone. It seemed like a great idea to be able to touch up all those half-serrated pocket knives, but the angled shape doesn't match the countour of any serrations I've seen. Trying to use a sharp corner to work a small round notch... think round hole, square peg.
