Quik Shade Medium Instant Pet Shade with Mesh Bed

All manufacturers have some rate of defective product, and I can't say what that rate is for Quik Shad as I've only bought one thing from them. However, my product arrived defective with no documentation and no helpline number. That would be fine if the product wasn't defective, but mine was defective (one of the two locking mechanisms would not engage), and I had no way to call a helpline. There was no number posted on their website either, just a mailing address. Really? I had to post a message on Facebook, and they sent me an 800 number whose automated message instructed me to call another 800 number. The agent (through no fault of her own) wasn't really empowered to help me troubleshoot or determine if I needed to exchange it. I mean, if it's safe for my dog without both mechanisms working, I might consider keeping it, but I would prefer to talk to someone about it. She wasn't a product expert, and there wasn't an option to speak with someone who was. She kept asking if I needed replacement parts sent, but there really aren't any parts ... it's all one unit. She went through a discussion about assembly error. There isn't assembly for this product. It just unfolds. Anyway, now, I have to weigh going through some lengthy and painful warranty process (taking pictures, providing proof of purchase, possibly sending it back ... not sure if that's part of it or not) or just get my money back from Amazon. I'm giving it a "2" because everything would probably be ok if it arrived in good condition, but because it wasn't in good condition, I've got to dive to a "2" due to my experience.

I have 2 mini daschunds that love the outdoors. I thought this would be great for them to be in the shade while scoping out squirrels and rabbits and the neighbor's cat. One loves it, the other refuses to go on it, and jumps off if I put him on it. I put a cushion on it as the bottom is not firm enough, which is the reason of only 4 stars. I can understand a bigger dog moving it while jumping on or off but it is stable enough for my little guy. I like the portability of it, it folds up and collapses extremely easy. I will have to see how it holds up in the hot Texas sun.

Within about half a year the roof canopy is falling apart. The sun here in Southern California has taken a toll on it, and the fabric is cracking and turning into dust, just tearing and crumbling to pieces. It's fragile like wet tissue now at this point (about a year) so we just leave it in place and try not to put our fingers clean through it when we do have to pick it up to move it. The bottom part is holding up okay though, but the metal rods no longer open and close without brute force. No rust or anything, we don't get rain here- it's just somehow corroded from being outside- which is what I thought this "Outdoor Pet Shade" was designed to do... I'm going to get one of the elevated dog beds from a different brand with a warranty against UV damage instead so I can actually have something to take camping with me and the dogs.

Nice quality, very roomy for my 20 lb dog. I use it when going to my nephew's soccer games and when going camping to keep my dog clean & off the ground (she has long white hair that tends to collect dirt & debris). The mesh allows air to circulate under my dog, which keeps her cooler in hot weather. I felt like this was a little pricey considering I bought a similar chair for myself or only $7, but I'm sure I'll be using this often enough to get my money's worth.EDIT: Added a pic from a camping trip in 2017. 4 years and it's still holding up strong!

I bought one of these a few years back for my Min Pin; He has a roof topped, fenced enclosure; complete with a dog house (and this lounger) that he stays in, while we are at work, during the day. I put a cool pad on it to keep him cool while lounging.... I can't keep him off the thing. He loves it! I highly recommend it. I will be getting another soon. Being outside; one of the joints rusted and broke, but it still works good and has lasted for years.

Very nice ..however the plastic around the posts is already cracked ...received like this....and waited months to get it...seems this was ordered in June originally and by August the original order was cancelled as it was out of stock..,,When I reordered there was only 1 left so don't know if this was a returned item..but my dog loves it. We'll see if it holds up for the rest of the year as Texas summers are very hot...I really hope so...

nice and sturdy, love the way it folds up like a chair, canopy is low enough to block out the Sun, the only reason no 5 stars is because the mesh sags but that is to be expected with its folding ability. very happy with purchase and so is my dog.

I only have it a month and a half the top canopy faded already - I take it in the garage when not in use -I hope the company reads this review so that they could change the material from fading again!

Could not lock both sides into place. Managed one side and gave up on the other, if i had put any more pressure on it the material would have torn. Fortunately the dogs not a fatty so it stays up fine. He loves it.

Serviceable but not particularly robust. Had difficulty getting all the corners to lock and the release button doesn't appear to work.

A lot smaller than I imagined, but my daughters French Bulldog seems to like it.
